Re: Government suggest change to UK F-35 variant future ord

Makes sense. Seems unnecessary to have such a huge fleet of the shorter ranged, heavier and more complex B model if the vast majority of them will be operating from runways.

SOLD: Canon EOS 80D (body only) - new, unused

Brand new Canon EOS 80D. Purchased January 2017 from Clifton Cameras. I bought this camera and a lens as part of the Canon Lens Promotion but I can't justify having a second body. I opened it once to check the camera body but everything else is still sealed. Obviously it includes everything that cam...

Sounds like a MIG-29K may have crashed in the Med?

Re: Need a little advice

Mildenhall weather is looking miserable tomorrow. I'd go for Duxford if you haven't been, it's a fabulous museum. Save the base trip for a weekday and do Lakenheath or Coningsby. If he's really set on it then go to Mildenhall as early as you can, stick it out for an hour in the rain and 'suggest' go...

Re: 527th Aggressors Bentwaters

Yup, I remember watching A-10 ops about halfway down the runway from the fence line too, you parked up and walked down to a crash gate, not as good a view as Bentwaters as I recall though

Re: 527th Aggressors Bentwaters

Cool footage of the only F-16 squadron to be based in the UK

I had a rather epic day at Bentwaters back in the day with a load of Hahn F-16s launching alongside 527th F-16s plus the based A-10s

As far as I recall both bases were good for photos but Bentwaters was the better of the two

Re: B-21 Announced

Agent K - in the 1962 the US switched to the tri-service designation scheme for their naming conventions, the last bomber under the old system was the XB-70, the first new one was the B-1, the B-2 followed and the next should be the B-3. Stroudy - I'd prefer a B-1 variant too, something with afterbu...

Re: B-21 Announced

Northrop haven't shown the configuration of the exhausts which is exactly what they did when the B-2 was announced in April 1988:

Re: B-21 Announced

A bit more here, seems it's a little bit smaller than a B-2 and has lower payload. Cool looking aircraft though.

Yup, looks worse than US LGBs from 30 years ago. Those were probably their most accurately delivered weapons too - scary to think what the bad ones were like.

Re: Exercise Indradhanush news articles

Hilarious. Seems they're doing this PR spin all the time with those Flankers. When they went to Red Flag in 2008 they supposedly "won" everything there too. I guess being almost twice the weight of a Typhoon and having a lower thrust-weight ratio doesn't affect them...

Seems rather ghoulish to try to profit from an aircraft crash. Whatever next?
