Re: Red Arrows New Base?

Logistics of nine Typhoons would be pretty eye watering, and would they really be suited to the job of RAFAT? four maybe but not nine. Pipe dream anyway.

Re: Abandoned, Forgotten and Burnt!!

Reminds me of being on ATC Camp at Laarbruch, there were quite a few Canberras dotted around as decoys. We went off for a walk one evening to have a look at them, the Snowdrops didn't like that, rounded us up, gave us a good talking to and took us back to our billet.

Shame, his gigs are superb. If I lived up that way I'd have had them.

Re: USAF awards $6.4bn for mock dogfighting services

Interesting that some older and low performance aircraft are used, Hunter, Jet Provost and Strikemaster, as well as more modern hardware.

Re: Sigma 70 200 f2:8

When this lens first came out I read a review that said it was sharper than the Mk1 Canon 70-200/2.8L non IS at wider apertures.

Nice. What's the story with the markings on the glider in shot 1? Is that an official serial?

Re: Reds Birthday Bash - 30 Yrs. Ago Today 4 Oct '89

I was at that, got some pics somewhere. I had a long chat with the crew of the militarised BA146 at the end of the day. They were on a sales pitch to the Swiss Air Force and flew in their support kit FOC. Speaking of which the Swiss in the Hunters were the highlight for me, immaculate formation flyi...

Re: Greta Thunberg?

" I fear that there are a significant number of youth nowadays who 'expect' everything for little (if any), return." Exactly, and that sense of entitlement should not be allowed to develop, the home is best place to nip that in the bud which was my point. But once a family has that in its mindset it...

Re: Greta Thunberg?

Our children's behaviour and attitude is our responsibility surely? I've brought mine up to be independant and accept responsibility for their actions and to consdier others in everything they do. Shame that too many people have kids with no thought on how their upbringing harms the kids and society...

Superb. Is that a cannon on the nose? Imagine low level strafing in that! Or dogfighting a B-47.

Re: Greta Thunberg?

I'm with James and Dan, I don't agree in taking a fatalistic view as Slogen has, you can make changes in your daily life that make a difference, and once you start you begin to realise there is plenty you can do. In our house we have no soap or shampoo etc in plastic bottles, its all bars and they a...

Re: Spitfire!

I caught the last 20 mins or so, I'll definitely be watching it on iplayer. The air to air photography was superb, and it was great seeing the WWII aircrews speaking about theoir experiences and perceptions of flying and fighting in the Spitfire.

Re: Misc 60's

Wow. Those Lincolns are amazing, what year was that? I had a Box Brownie in the late 60's, 620 roll film and the viewfinders that worked backwards. Got some pics somewhere from late 60's and early 70's Biggin Hill BoB At Home days, I wonder where they are?

Re: RAW Files

Converting to DNG is a good idea, support for older RAW file formats might cease on newer editing software. As I understand it DNG will always be backwards compaitible.
