Monday 09-09-24 - flying Chinooks help please

Could anyone identify the Chinook that did the "role demo" that commenced just before 13:00 (it was described as "role demo" over the radio though it was more like the displays of a few years ago. The Chinook also appears to have had a new front port side window fitted) and the Chinook/Chinooks that...

Bad weather looking back through the threads
Looking at my photos, it may have been low cloud in the afternoon.... a lynx almost disappeared from view circa 14:20. No sign of wet tarmac or umberellas in the 7 or so hours I was observing.

Re: Families day 2024

It will be interesting to see what happens this year. Last year, there was only a very small number of items in static, with only 1 RAF visitor. Also, after about 3 displays (all helicopters), flying was cancelled circa 14:45 but I can't remember why.

Re: Farnborough Airshow

Standing on the roadside near the Swan pub and the FAST museum. But is it worth it based on the list of attendees? It's not too far away and it's a change from the next local riveting experience that is Southampton Airport, and not the hassle of doing Heathrow if you get caught in traffic. Thanks, ...

Activity - Afternoon 10-07-24.

Having noted one of my last 3 required Chinooks showing on ADSB just after departure from Odiham, and after a short wait to see if it stayed local, I popped to Odiham in the hope of seeing it return. Unfortunately, arriving at 15:20, I got there too late. I decided to stay a while in case it took of...

On bay 52. It should be taking ZJ220 and ZJ226 back to Australia.
Are ZJ220 and 226 being transported as complete machines ? I saw them on low loaders a couple of weeks ago en route from Wattisham to Brize and they were missing at least the engines and rotors.

Re: B1b RAF Fairford

For what it's worth, I watched it land. When it reached 27 end it turned off the runway and stopped and the front wheels were chocked. Three fire engines attended. I didn't pay much attention for the next few minutes but the chocks were removed by two fire crew before it taxiied to the front of the ...

Re: Weekend activity at Benson

The RAF Benson flying programme still lists 21 civil aircraft "TBC" to arrive tomorrow too (no idea what that's about). Same programme says no Chinook flying booked for tomorrow or Saturday, though an early start on Sunday. Perhaps it will be amended.

Serials are ZJ210, ZJ213 and ZJ221

Cheers

Eccie
Thanks  Very helpful.

Having compared my photos with a few on line, I think the first one towed out was ZJ221 (paintwork marks/shades).
As for the other two, my best guess is the last one was 210.

Three apaches 26-04-23

Three apaches were towed out of the hangar on South side of the runway circa 19:30 this evening. Unfortunately, despite unobstructed view of tails, I've been unable to identify them. However, the serial of the third one out may start ZJ21x. Confirmation of their identities would be appreciated if an...

Further to Roger4's post above, but not adding any new numbers into the pot, the following is a list of the Puma's I've seen flying at Benson during the last 6 months (numbers and accompanying codes read off photographs): 08-11-22 XW213 (E) and XW216 (G) 13-11-22 XW232 (P) 19-01-23 XW237 (R) 07-02-2...

Not sure if this is the correct thread to post this in but today, XW235/Q (eyeballed) was tracking on ADSB exchange as XW217 Hex: 43C292
