Re: Draken to provide Red Air training to RAF from Teesside
I believe the CAA will not allow the Mirage, because it uses an afterburner. Not allowed in civilian hands. Not as simple as that, it depends on the level of complexity and what level of OEM/Design authority support is provided. Use of reheat within a turbine engine does not necessarily render the ...

Re: Navy Hawks final fly past
The retirement of the Hawk T1 is sad but let's not forget the impact on the pilots and ground crews who will also now be facing an uncertain future. Where do the 736NAS pilots go ? Perhaps the earlier question should have been how easy for a Hawk pilot to transition to the L159. I suspect those who...

Details of the 3-year interim competition are at the link below. Hopefully the UK's NGOT programme will deliver something more threat representative for 2025/26 onwards!

Re: Skyhawks to Leeming in April/May?
Guess that's for the RAF's new aggressor contract. Probably Draken operated. Not sure Draken have any A-4N, they use the ex RNZAF A-4K. They also plan to have some L159s based at Teesside soon. The A-4N could be from Top Aces at Wittmund. Draken fly both the A-4K and A-4N. Draken A-4Ns fixed in Kin...

Skyhawks to Leeming in April/May?
Rumour mill has it that Leeming is possibly hosting a detachment of A-4N Skyhawks in April/May as part of some sort of assessment. Should provide something a little different for folks in the vicinity.

Re: UK Seeking Adversary Jets Once Again
So if the airfield needs to be within 30 minutes of the north sea areas, what does that mean for FOST & culdrose and Yeovilton The original plan was for 736NAS to disband a couple of months ago and 100 Sqn (out of service date 2025+) to take over their tasking, possibly by a deployment down south, ...

Re: A KETTLE OF HAWKS
Very unlikely that Draken will buy them as BAE weren't keen on helping the US mob that bought the ex RoKAF T.67s certainly not after the first incident, and definitely not after the second. Totally agree! Even the UK entity wouldn't touch them even if BAE were to be involved. The Hawk T1/T1a situat...
