Re: Kingfisher flypast.
Great shots, you must have amazing level of patience! I used to spend many an hour waiting for these birds to arrive so I could get static shots so can well appreciate how long you must have waited around to get these. Not to mention the skill needed to react and capture the images when the birds do...

Re: Really stupid answers from TV quiz shows.
Yeah I saw that too, the other contestant thought the answer could have been hamburgers.  I actually (jokingly) said 'donuts' out loud as soon as I saw the question as whenever I hear Homer (the author) mentioned I always think of the yellow man instead! Wonder if it was a bit of a set ...

Re: Really stupid answers from TV quiz shows.
One from last night's Tipping Point that I will remember for a long time... (You need to have watched The Simpsons for it to be funny though)
"In his epic poems, Homer often refers to nectar as being the drink of the gods and which other substance as their food?"
Contestant's answer - "Donuts"

Re: RAF Coningsby 31-3-21
I think I must have been stood very close to you. Were you up a stepladder? I took a few photos of the Dakota through the wire fence and was quite pleased with the outcome considering the wire in front of the lens. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51087779177_ab19aa212a_h.jpg A97A2639-3 by PoorOl...

Re: Scanned Images - How much unsharp mask ?
That sounds like a lot of sharpening to me but I'm far from being an expert. Personally, I use about 70 - 80% and only once. I also use the 'lasso' tool to select the area to sharpen, ie. just the part of the photo which is in focus.

Re: Geoffrey Wellum’s book, “First light”
I've read a lot of war biographies and First Light is probably the best of the lot! I remember the first time I read it, the bit where he is being chased by two (I think) Me 109's - I found myself twisting and turning in the armchair as GW manoeuvred the Spitfire around the sky to escape the enemy. ...

Hello and a question
Fairly new to the forum and my first post. I've been interested in military aricraft since I was a kid in the early 70's when I had a few 'holidays', staying at the RAF Valley married quarters where my sister lived. The Red Arrows were based there at the time and I used to cycle down to the beach an...
