Was there a reason why Boscombe cannot be used for the Voyagers?
Surely the reason is lack of a passenger terminal. Voyager ops will require an airfield with a terminal, customs, and freight handling facilities which rather narrows the field.
Superb and extremely rare photos from the pre-digital age. The quality of the scanning and post processing is sublime. Thanks for taking the time and sharing these.
Last month I was fortunate to fly on a Voyager AAR sortie with 10/101 Sqns over the North Sea with a number of fast jets participating in Ex Steadfast Noon. Here's a few images from a most memorable day. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54096998458_45f2c47cd2_h.jpg 5A5A5050b1 by Mark Young , on F...
Really? Although over 35 years old and of course limited to just 20 channels, my AOR-2002 is still the best receiver I have ever owned and its sensitivity and clarity beats the hand held receivers all round.

Some beauties there Stuart! Hard to believe there was such variety back in the day and some air arms and types that we are very unlikely to see again. Lovely scans too.
Hi, some 101 Sqn Vulcan and VC10 heraldry that might be of interest https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51333303387_01d26c129c_h.jpg XJ824A by Mark Young , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51365929712_bb3bd78e5d_h.jpg XM605E1 by Mark Young , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535...
Fabulous photos and brilliant scans. They're all good but the 56 Sqn Lightning is my favourite. I'd be interested to know what scanning and processing software you used for these.
A fantastic set of shots Stuart from you and your late dad. Also you have scanned and post processed then exceptionally well. What a great time to have been a military photographer in the seventies to nineties!
Great set of pics, tinged with the sadness of the airframes' demise :'( And your scanning results look great! May I ask what type of scanner you are using, and whether you would recommend it? TIA! Hi Pete, and thank you (and everyone else) for the kind comments. To answer your question about the sc...
Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I'm glad these ancient photos have been of interest and nostalgic, particularly for those that once served at the 'Home of the Canberra'.
The drawdown of Canberra operations at RAF Wyton began in earnest in December 1991 following 100 Sqn’s conversion to the BAe Hawk. 231 OCU wound up their aircrew conversion role in April 1993, followed in October 1994 by the disbandment of 360 Sqn. 39 Sqn relocated to RAF Marham in December 1993 tak...
Can't see the Voyagers bolt holing to Wittering as there is no passenger terminal or maintenance facilities there for them. I would think it more likely, that if indeed Brize is to be temporarily out of use, that the Voyagers - and perhaps the A400s and C17s would operate out of Fairford with passen...
RAF A330 ZZ330 RRR9110 also arrived at Istres on July 4th so the trail out to Aus for Pitch Black will be conducted jointly with FAF and RAF A330s tanking.
