Stunning pics! I would have been there myself most summers in ‘Commie corner’ by the church. Great days.

Re: RAF C-130 (ZH870) Retirement Tail
Regardless of an underwhelming tail scheme, I’m just disappointed that we’re losing the Hercs with no capable replacement while our old cold war enemy wages war in Europe. Another ridiculous decision by the government just to save money while they continue to waste it on HS2, overpaid contractors an...

Re: Defence Review Overview
How come when almost unlimited emergency funds had to be found from somewhere to deal with covid, the Govt somehow found them, able to pay furlough to working people amongst other things must have cost multiple billions. But the money was found, because it was needed. But now, with a war in Europe b...

Re: Raf Lakenheath today
Great photos! I was actually there myself today, but near the car park area so the sun wasn’t as good for photos. It seems to have been quieter than the last few times I’ve been at Lakenheath, anyone know why? Didn’t even see much flying over the north Norfolk coast this week either.

Why the civil registrations?
Will they get military ones, or roundels at least?

Re: UK Should Reconsider C-130J Retirement
‘We need to reconsider the F35 and the C-130’ said ex MoD Government Minister Tobias Elwood on todays World at One on Radio 4 when discussing the request to ramp up military spending. Indeed, but I bet they don’t. We’ll just rely on the Americans as usual. Would be good if the RAF bought more trans...

A longer term tdy deployment of the two sqns to LN then, rather than permanently based? Or is it just the existing units equipping?

Re: RAF Lakenheath 14 June 2022
Great set of photos those! We were there that morning for about an hour too, but near the car park area. Only saw two F-35s take off, but plenty of F-15s including that SJ bird. How come that’s there?

Re: Next week?
Thank you gents, really appreciate the info! Looks like I’ll get away with a couple of hours over there one of the days. Looking like good weather too, might finally see an F-35 in real life. @Nighthawke I’m thinking of Oxburgh Hall for when we go to Norfolk in July, will definitely try and get a Ma...

Next week?
Apologies for what may seem silly questions, but we live a long way from LN so don’t want a wasted trip. We’re on hols near Cambridge next week, can anyone tell me if it’d be worth slightly annoying the missus by dragging her away from National Trust places and over to the base one day next week? Pr...

Re: New wings for A10s.
I don’t suppose the US would consider permanently basing a couple of A-10 squadrons in Europe again would they, given the horrific situation in Ukraine?

Re: F1 to remove military aviation displays from races
Ridiculous and disrespectful to the highly skilled military pilots who fly in these display teams as well as being trained to protect the free societies that allow events like F1 to flourish. Yet another cretinous and over-sensitive decision by the ignorant. Bahrain, Saudi, Russia……. Free societies...

Re: UK Seeking Adversary Jets Once Again
How many airworthy Hunters knocking about?
A unit of ex-RNoAF F-16s in adversary camo based at Leeming would be very nice! Probably be a few puddle jumpers with barely credible capabilities and painted more like flying club aircraft though.

Re: Woodford-Avro Heritage Museum
The Shackleton AEW at Manchester museum is currently being dismantled for removal to the Avro Heritage Museum. So there’ll be two famous Avro types there next year.
