Re: Greece initiates major overhaul of Air Force by ‘selling’ older jets.
Thanks Kurnass...Never say never! My thoughts are that India is in a somewhat similar situation to Greece regarding the variety of different types they operate? However with India, the vast airspace they need to protect dictates the need for superior numbers of operational fighter jets & to that end...

Greece initiates major overhaul of Air Force by ‘selling’ older jets.
This latest fairly obvious statement by the Defence Minister further convinces me that I could do that job! "Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias believes that the Greek air force needs greater uniformity and interoperability of its fleet. He said: "We have F-4, Mirage 2000-5, Block 30 F-16, Block 5...

The start & finish times are given in the original info' pack. Just head for the Main Gate & follow the hordes or signage! ;) Definitely worth reading the info' pack as there's a shed-load of items you can & can't take on-base. Clearly, having to remove anything from your bag & return to your vehicl...

It'll look fine with a bit of thrust-reverse soot up it! Can't beat a bit of colour in the F-35 & Drone World we're about to adopt....& it won't be around for ever!

Greek F-16 Crashes in Sea & Pilot okay!
Greek authorities said an F-16 fighter jet crashed in the Aegean Sea during a training flight Wednesday. The pilot ejected from the aircraft and was later rescued. The incident occurred near the small island of Psathoura, 175 kilometers (110 miles) northeast of Athens, after the single-seat jet figh...

Another great post from the Land of reducing aviation colour! Clear proof it's not yet too late to enjoy a visit to Japan, but that time of grey on grey approaches! You got double lucky that the Aggressors were at home with the bonus imo of using r/w 06 with a wider shooting arc & mountainous...

Okay, where to start? I'm a dedicated self-sensor-cleaner of Canon APS-C, APS-H & FF. Sensors. Random list of equipment & requirements I use coming -up! 1] Be confident & careful. Use extra light, a LedLenser headtorch in my case. :thumb: 2] Don't use pressurised can air-blowers, they damage your by...

Re: MCAS Iwakuni, 13.02.24
The tunnel leads under the extreme northern end of the r/w 20 under-run. See Google Maps for a clear image. It emerges on the outer northeast seawall & used to give decent views for the morning action. There was long ago just a chain-link fence there, but somebody in the Military decided that was en...

Re: Hurricane G-HRLI / V7497
Looking at the Pilots pictured in the genuine Hurricane, I think it's a little unkind of them to photograph you sitting on the two thirds scale model!
Once again you get the shots from all opportunities.

Re: MCAS Iwakuni, 13.02.24
You should be very pleased with your luck & shots. As you say, the opportunity to shoot from any other location is non-existent since access to the Fisherman's Tunnel was denied.
The runway change was indeed a real advantage whilst it lasted! Really like that final US-2 gear-up shot too.

Re: V-22 Osprey Grounded
Don't expect to see the USAF Ospreys flying any time soon though. Quoting from the above article, a phased return to flight is planned: "Phase one of AFSOC’s return to fly plan includes ground and simulator training integrating planned flight controls, safety briefings,... Edited " My question is "...

Re: B1b RAF Fairford
Thanks for the info' rameagle, however this opens another train of thought! If the B-1 was/is serviceable, why hasn't it filled-up with locally available fuel & gone home? An extended crew-rest doesn't seem necessary on what was in effect just a GAPM? Just asking, not denying your source. ;)

Highly likely you won't get to see anything super-special sitting on ones arse at 'that place'.
Great catch in any case!

Re: B1b RAF Fairford
From the USA with a tour via Stockholm Sweden where it performed a fly-over with a B-52 from CONUS also. I believe the Bomber pair were flanked by a Swedish Gripen each side to mark Sweden's entry into NATO. There were enough AAR tankers to see the Bombers straight back to the US, so I guess the B-1...

Re: NATO Tiger Meet 2024
I really am inclined to think the 'Organisers' should radically rework their operating procedures, First-off there was a gaff whereby you could register for Day 2 but only able to pay with a reference to Day1. The application details have an English language option, BUT the payment details are only ...
