Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2025 General Discussion Thread

Lets NOT? This is a discussion thread & it's interesting how the complicated English language in its standard format can be read in different ways by different people. Find the subject matter in the sentence, look for syntax, read the intended meaning & your 'alternative' & decide on balan...

Re: RIAT 25 Sunday Schedule - Any Ideas?

Aim to get parked by 06:30 as your Aviation Club ticket doesn't give you priority over the long queues on all routes into the area. Once parked you can gauge for yourself when you need to join the physical queue for entry & Security checks. Note that delays here only get worse as the day progresses....

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2025 General Discussion Thread

Is the Pakistan AF IL78 due to land at Fairford or will the JF17's separate from it elsewhere. It would be great to see a landing and departure of it on on the Monday. It would seem to me from the 5 posts above yours that there's somewhere between Bob Hope & no hope of either on any given day? ;) L...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2025 General Discussion Thread

By my understanding, the B-1s are coming as part of (or all of) a BTF. Could that possibly mean the BTF is actually elsewhere in Europe, it’s at Fairford and has only two aircraft, or is it at Fairford and one or two more could pitch up and get parked out the way in the north east loop. Or maybe a ...

Possibly closer to the day somebody will oblige with details?
For now, it's Pakistan to Fairford via somewhere not near India, Iran or Israel. (or possibly France?)

Thanks for the Info'. I think I will leave this one as a weather-driven late decision. I'm always keen to check-out new locations for some variety. :thumb:

Re: The Somme Airshow 2025 - Amiens - 23/24 August

Any more news or updates on this event please?
It would appear that the main viewing area for any public attendance could be located to the
North of the runway? Not a great outlook if South-facing all day.
Unless of course, anybody knows different?

Re: One and all lens

I personally consider you're already in the right place with your current equipment for your budget? All super zooms have a trade-off with image quality (IQ) at some points (possible all?) of the focal length imo. Later & markedly more expensive Zoom lenses have addressed these shortcomings to the p...

Re: Strategic Defence Review - 2025

Remember one of the concepts of having a Harrier type aircraft? Aim for the runway and destroying the fast jets becomes unimportant. We have fewer operational airfields for dispersal and less money to pay for the people and dreams of politicians/glory seeking senior officers of all three services W...

Re: Taking youngsters to RIAT

Wattisham for instance was probably a 3 hour airshow with a few thousand people? RIAT is a 8 hour balls-out airshow with an active lazy-lunch! That's following a stupid-early start & the annual Dawn scrum to get parked, then get into the showground & find a spot to view. :@ Ultra good or bad weather...

I copy/pasted your question into Google & this is the first result in 5 seconds! In fact, this change is so old that some Unit markings are re-emerging! The Royal Air ...

Re: Strategic Defence Review - 2025

In all seriousness, I think the reasoning within the MoD was that, since the last catapult-launched jet in the Navy was quite a while ago (Phantom?), they figured the Royal Navy had lost the necessary training systems and infrastructure. But they were still well-versed with the Harrier and the whol...

Re: Strategic Defence Review - 2025

Looking at the Statement & specifically at the words ' alternative commercial facilities ' I'm inclined to think a Civil Airport is envisioned mainly because it appears the last person leaving a military airfield 'turns out the lights' until tomorrows published opening time. Fire cover for 24/7 QRA ...
