Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

The base didnt want people down at crash gate 5 when the galaxy turned up a few months back and tried stopping people taking photos, so its no surprise they have put a restriction on this area. Yeah, but with the Galaxy it was because they were unloading the ultra-secret new device just..... sorry!...

Re: NOTAM for RAF Benson families day 15-August-2019

Not a great deal of info' available beyond what you've noted. RAF Tutor Display Team are there too. Gobsmacked if the Chinook display doesn't happen, but not seen listed. I think it's only due at Eastbourne Sat/Sun & not for Biggin Hill. Tucano at Eastbourne for 4 days & Biggin for Sat/Sun. Typhoon ...

Re: Airshows and the show ground set up

This debate has been going on for decades but layouts won't change. I guess one has to decide whether you want to pay £XX for some cr@p static shots, or save the money for something better. I made my choice some time ago  Paul Spot-on! If you're persisting with RIAT then try this? Find a s...

Re: Yet more mouldy oldies

Great trip down memory lane here. I've got a special liking for the 115 Sqn Andover E3 as my flying-log shows a 3h-15m Navex out of Thorney Island in this aircraft when it was a C1 with 46 Sqn in Nov 1971. ( Brown & Tan with Black undersides + white anti-solar splodge over the cockpit :) )

Thanks for the correction. Hadn't seen anything about it & couldn't believe there are still suckers out there! Don't know why, but I thought the engines had been inhibited long-term. Very much a case of... All the time the cash-cow produces, milk-it! Cue calculator, That's £125 x ? x ? occasions = s...

Re: Zeltweg Airbase 2019

The post above explains what it is, this is 'why'. Ever since '9/11' if an aircraft loses (or chooses not to have) Radio contact with ATC over a longer period, there exists the high possibility of interception by a military aircraft. You will probably have seen/heard of the RAF Typhoon QRA (Quick Re...

Re: WK163 Canberra?

Interesting figures RJ79. Whilst the accounts are for 2017 it's safe to say that with zero public access to ground-runs, photo-op's & private tours since then, you have to sell a heap of Mugs & Tee-shirts to make any profit whatsoever. The 'Gravy-Train' has hit the buffers! (well, it was derailed an...

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

I think the ban on ladders on the airfield side of the A15 is correct. Can there be anybody that hasn't seen the guy jumping of his ladder before getting his face tyre-striped by a Typhoon or the notoriously low Turkish F-16 landing at Waddington? The amazing number of idiots under the approach begg...

Good Luck to anybody that can get to photograph Israeli operational jets for only a fiver elsewhere? Suck-it up or stay at home!

Great shots! I have always considered Spangdahlem to be only any good for landing-shots on r/w 05. These show that's not true.
F-16 90-0829 has been very busy according to the mission marks?

Re: WK163 Canberra?

Too easy to criticise any iteration of VTTS for what they haven't achieved since the Vulcan ceased flying. The plain truth of the current situation & SURELY primary objective is that with nada, zip, zilch is happening to protect the airframe/airframes from the corrosive effects of the UK climate ove...

Sadly it would seem likely as no ejection is reported & I would expect a pilot intact is pretty easy to find in that terrain?

Re: Plane Spotting Live

In these days of 'correctness' & non-judgemental comments it's not easy to express my views on the presentation Team & nightly Guests over the 3 episodes. Perhaps 'Cirque du Panic' goes someway to covering it. Quite why it was necessary to speak so fast their brains couldn't keep-up evades me. Phil ...

Am I going blind, or is Yunglee (Lee Adcock) missing from the poll list? Reference German Navy P-3 Orion at the RAF Cosford Air Show.
