The two mentioned ramps don't have enough room for all of the Lakenheath fleet, so clearly some of them are parked in shelters.
It's just much easier to operate from a flightline.
The shelter ones tend to be more for doing maintenance but of course some will launch from them.

So the HAS's are now redundant? From what I hear they are very difficult to demolish - for obvious reasons!
No they're not, most are slowly getting refurbed.

Re: Google Earth F15's

F-15Es normally park on the two ramps from my (albeit limited) experience, I wonder if the sun shelters were still being built so both squadrons were displaced onto one ramp. Otherwise it just looks like a normal day of possibly 06 ops to me, with a visitor in! They moved to the ramp just in front ...

Re: Google Earth F15's

Just been looking at the current image of Lakenheath, which is dated13.06.2023 and it shows a line-up of 31 F15's on the South ramp. Seems unusual to me as I thought that they are normally in their HAS's. Also a C17 on the North side plus 5 f35's and two f15's on the taxiways. Was this some special...

Re: B1 Deployment Patches (10/2023)

48 MXO do a yearly spotters patch and 492nd FS did one back in 2022 I think but it was a very small run of them.

Re: 48FW F-35A delivery summary (41 as at 11/08/2023)

I think that would take the total to 48, so maybe another 6 to come after these? 495 should have 26 when their last couple arrive so I presume 493rd will have the same eventually. So 54 in total as mentioned in Norville's post above. If TR-3 gets sorted they should all have been delivered by the en...

Absolutely fantastic work there Chris.

It's on my bucket list just to make a trip to Alaska one day purely just for the F-16 aggressors and a trip to go Hornet aggressor hunting too.

Nice to see the RNAS with some fast jets again. Hope they keep the Phoenix on the tail fins.
If you look closely at the tail, it's just a sticker. Will probably get all the removed before returning to flight ops.

Re: Marham fleet F35 Sightings - 2022/23

According to the Royal Web site 809 NAS has been "resurrected " Probably not the same as 'stood up' ? You do occasionally hear Seajet callsigns but no idea if they are 809 Naval Air Squadron pilots? Seajet always used to be associated with jets heading to or from the carriers. 809 hasn't officially...

Mildenhall 11th April & 17th October

Been a while since I've posted any snaps on FC, so here's a few from a couple trips this year. Hope you all enjoy  First off is when the AV F-16s stopped off on 11th April on their way stateside along with a few guests that day, did notice a few of the AV's carried bomb marking and what loo...

Re: Marham fleet F35 Sightings - 2022/23

Had a chat with the 17sqn guys at Miramar airshow, where ZM135/001 was on display (again! yes I did moan :-) ). They confirmed 004 and 031 are currently on strength at Edwards. 004 was originally due to do Miramar, but was broken so they took 001 instead. I asked why not 002, because it's the one I...

Re: Marham fleet F35 Sightings - 2022/23

My GUESS is that ZM136 is somewhere like Ogden getting the test kit and orange wiring removed. Do they still use the Orange wiring these days? With modern jets having the capability to record pretty much everything, I would have thought it was a thing of the past. Yes they do, the jets that fly day...

You are right Starbuck its 22 not 20
I've no idea why they jumped from 20 to 22.

I've also slipped on the tail numbers at LN so need to try and bring the list up to date,

Marham runway change 10th August 2023

Looking at the new aerodrome maps RWY 24/06 changes to 23/05 from 10th August.

RWY 01/19 remains as it is.
