Re: Radex001 over Boscombe Down

It’s the RADEX facility ground station at QinetiQ working with the Crowsnest trials aircraft ZH833 which is currently ~30 miles to the west.
Presumably they are using the Basset’s old unit.

Can anyone confirm the BE actually left today? I know the Hercs are all gone, but not seen a report yet of any move of the BE.
Yes, all departed this morning.

Re: RNAS Yeovilton - Navy Wings Hangar 6/6/2022 (large post)

Good to see the Sea Hawk made its way back there from when I saw it at Shawbury in 2017, I wonder when that happened.
Did you get to see the gearbox of the Sea Vixen? That was a little eye-opening for me.

Re: AH-64E (ZM703) BDN65

As an aside 3 Merlin HM1s were noted in the east facing HAS, third from the east on the northern line, next to the main ramp. One was towed towards the main hangar complex at 0845. Long shot, but any tie up on these three appreciated (my last Merlins are all stored here). Not sure about three but o...

Re: Stored Merlin HM.1's

The stored ones are HM1's which were never upgraded to HM2 standard. ZH838/848/849/855/858/863 ZH830 and ZH852 too. All still there and I, too, haven’t heard anything of their futures. I’m almost certain they won’t be upgraded to Mk2. I was surprised to see ZH 833 which has been converted to carry ...

Hawk XX154 to ‘fly’ to her new home

Ex-ETPS Hawk XX154 will make her last ‘flight’ tomorrow 21st August from Boscombe Down to the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection at Old Sarum underneath a Chinook from RAF Odiham with support from JADTEU. That will be something to see! :pop: https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/17844823.iconic-jet...

Re: Log/Req Boscombe Down 2/7/19

Do you know if any of these Navy Merlins has "HMS Northumberland" on the nose? I’m afraid I can’t help with that one, sorry. I'm also pretty sure that I saw a replica/FSM Spitfire near the main gate and close to the Lightning . If I did , can anyone identify it please ? It’s a model marked up MK356...

Re: Log/Req Boscombe Down 2/7/19

Over the course of two days 5 Merlin were moved between HAS’s.

Your one coded ‘14’ was ZH849.
Others were ZH830, ZH848, ZH852 and ZJ117.

I’m sure the Basset was broken up years ago and is in bits on the airfield somewhere.
'Bertie' was given to the training school as a training aid and remains in one piece :). The Chieftain, however, had her wings cut off and was stored over the south western end of the airfield for some time.

Re: Red Arrows XX227 retires after 38 years

XX154 is obviously the first ever Hawk and she still has her original Fuselage and Wing, she still has the original pre mod type Tailplane, possibly not the original one as the T/P's have been swapped around the ETPS fleet to maintain flying programmes.Unlikely she will ever fly again.
