Re: Public access land under runway 24 approach

Ah! No I haven't rung them as yet. However the barbed wire is only around the area at the forest entrance - the rest of the fence is a normal wire fence that in places you can get over or through within the open access guide lines. Further down away from the forest entrance there is a gate that you...

Re: Lakenheath spotters carpark

Yes I suppose you could miss millions of people in a huge place like Brandon with a population of around 10,000. I must have blinked or been away  Better start buying a fleet of taxis ;) As someone local I was only trying to help with what is a perfectly viable option - regardless of how you d...

Re: Lakenheath spotters carpark

I also live in Brandon and OK I missed the fire station one but it is small. Also I don't think supernarkets and other facilities with their own car parks would take kindly to large numbers of spotters' cars filling them. Parking on roads is just going to clog them up, especially bus routes etc. Pl...

Re: Lakenheath spotters carpark

Where is there plenty of free parking in Brandon? Bury Road car park is the only public car park and that is no longer free. I live in Brandon and I'm struggling to think of a single road that has any parking restrictions on it. George St carpark (by the fire station) is also a public carpark and l...

Re: Lakenheath spotters carpark

Is there enough call for a shuttle bus (well, a taxi!) from Brandon or somewhere? There's plenty of free parking there and sounds like it could solve a lot of stress. A taxi from Brandon would be no more than a couple of quid, split between a few mates would seem a reasonable solution. Means you don...

I live in Brandon and last night they were coming in to land over my house until about 9 or 10pm I'd say.

Re: Twin tailed prop plane

why's that odd? It's the same for everyone, there's no singling out of 'mere mortals' as you put it. You join, post 5 times, you get access its as simple as that. There were very good reasons why that was put in place which I'm sure the moderation team would gladly share with you if you ask them. :...

Re: Twin tailed prop plane

Just seen the photos in the photo section and mentions it was in the “heads up” bit.

Odd rule that us mere mortals can’t even view that bit until we’ve made 5 other posts.

Twin tailed prop plane

Hi,

I live locally to lakenheath and just saw a strange plane coming in to land. It was twin tailed, twin prop engines and looked to be a dark grey colour with orange or red ‘highlights’.

Not much to go on but not one I’ve seen go over before!
