Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

Excellent news, the Korean Black Eagles aerobatic team has self confirmed at RIAT as part of their world tour. Let's just wait for the confirmation - funny thing is that there is nothing to say that they have even entered talks i.e. the flashing yellow light https://www.air-shows.org.uk/2022/05/airs...

I will say what everyone else is thinking.. Another diabolical update. Nearly 70 quid a ticket
It made me think the £10 discount they were offering.... Was it really inflation or was it the lack of ticket sales given the current line up

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

In 2019 there were three big flying acts: the Spanish harriers, the Romanian Mig 21 and the Ukrainian SU27. Any one of those was a big pulling act. Nothing close to that in exotic fast jet department. Yes I remember, 2018 was even better with so many confirmations. I think unless there's some chang...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

It's turning into a Prop fest with more emphasis on the static line up. I agree, although nothing wrong with this but the last 4 or 5 updates have been bland. We need proper flying acts like how RIAT used to be. Makes me think whether the £10 discount was really due to low ticket sales given the co...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

Can you imagine after 2 years, how many airshows around the world must be fighting for all the fast jets to be at their display like the typhoon and Gripen? I wonder how they choose which ones they'll attend.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

I think we'll be getting a load of flying updates in a space of 1 or 2 weeks. I guess in the last 2 weeks of May.

Usually everything comes at once

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

Looking at the list so far, I'm guessing we are a little short of the flying displays compared to the previous years where we have had 30 plus. I'm guessing at the best: Turkish air/land force..... 1 Italian air force..... 2 Croatian air force.... 1 Us airforce..... 1 (tba). Maybe 1 more? Czech airf...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

I remember when a TAC demo consisted of F3's, GR4's, T1's, GR7A's (?) and an E3..... but if you like PC21's.... That's not what it means when they call it a tactical display. The routine is more akin to the old Raffin Mike or Voltige Victor profiles, albeit not as tight, with formation passes leadi...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

Another heli and a ton more statics. Personally..not that impressed this week. Daz Yes, I agree, I'm sure everyone is thinking of the same thing. Seems to be like a helicopter show now. I am hoping from May onwards we will be getting fast jets/flying confirmations in droves. Confirmations seem to h...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

Shame about Romania, but the flashing yellow could be a flying display of some sort..... Maybe an f16?

Still no sign of Poland or Italy.....

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

Italians generally confirm around Easter time and have a few flying displays but surprised there's been no negotiations so far. I'm guessing French would be the flying Rafale. Think the Couteau Delta display has stopped Usually Polish would have some kind of confirmation by now. I have a feeling Can...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

Great update.
I'm hoping for another update from the American as there's so many air arms.

I'm guessing the Italians will update around Easter time as they normally do, they usually have multiple flying updates

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

I'm surprised that there hasn't been a confirmation from the Italian and French airforce as they participate in the flying displays every year.

Particularly the Italians, the usually have several displays.

I'm also wondering if the Polish f16 will participate this year

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2021 - General Discussion Thread

I agree that 2021 has little chance of happening, the question now is whether the organisation can financially survive a second cancelled show to make a show possible ever again. The last annual report spoke about how work was done to save the company after the cancellation of the 2020 show so that...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2021 - General Discussion Thread

Have to agree with pg1610, as much as I hope some sort of normality returns sooner rather than later I can't see RIAT 2021 going ahead give how much planning has to take place. I fear 2021 will also be largely a write off for most large participation events, hopefully the vaccination programme runs...
