I thought the J model did not have an Navigator or Flight Engineer anymore, as the workload is now shared between both pilots. Reg...

Re: UK Callsigns of the mid-1980s
To my knowledge in the 80's tactical call signs were used more than trigraphs. When at Marham the Victors used tactical call signs eg 8RE-41, as with the Lightnings at Binbrook. COT,FYY,VYT, and other training units used these style of call signs. Hope this helps!

Re: UK Callsigns of the mid-1980s
For the RAF it was either tri-graph eg EFN-26 or tactical R7L-52. RAF Buccaneer formations = Jackel, Joker. Not sure what the rest of the RAF fleet used back then for formations!

Re: KC-135 Refuelling hose mishap
In the 80's a Vulcan K2 landed at Waddington with it's centre-line hose full out, they had to close the A15 until it had landed!

Covid certainly doesn't help the situation with airshows been cancelled! It always has been touch & go over the years for the arrows with review after review, have to wait and see what happens!

Fantastic shots there when at Marham during the 80's, a Lightning took off and went straight into a vertical climb on departure.

The RAF for me was the late 60's 70's & 80's in it's hey day! The Sentinel went way to soon in my opinion with all the money spent on it.
