Re: RAF Fairford Construction Thread 2021-2022 (Updated 10/12/20)
Interesting how the name of the MPH has changed to a maintenance facility. I wonder if fairford will become a maintenance airfield for USAFE. Similar to what kemble was before it was handed back to the MOD in 1993. Certainly makes sense and will save a lot of fuel and cost in the long run. As aircra...

Re: Deployment
Having read the article i think that the annual number of Bomber Task Forces will increase (as fairford's PR team said last year 4-5 a year). Just means more airfields will be used for the Bomber Task Forces to allow for the increase in operations and to give some other bases such as fairford some p...

Russian Spitfire now on the UK airshow circuit
The MK IX Russian spitfire is now airworthy in the UK and should be on the UK display circuit this year. The aircraft itself looks great. Link to more information about the airframe. http://www.hangar11.co.uk/russspit.html Link to some pictures of the aircraft equipped with ordinance under the wings...

Re: Ex Chameleon 21-1
Just seen this on Facebook, first I've seen/heard. Have I been living in a cave and missed something? There will be increased aircraft movement for an exercise taking place from RAF Leeming from 23 February to 19 March 2021. The Station will be hosting various multi-national aircraft throughout tha...

Re: Possible Voyager Boom upgrade
I believe the issue with that point is that all air forces have different commitments globally. The UK more then some with tankers in Cyprus and The Falklands. The Mildenhall tankers are already over stretched in Europe with maybe 3 Mildenhall tanker sorties per a day supporting well over 8 air forc...

Airtanker potential deal with the Indian Air Force
https://idrw.org/iaf-plans-to-contract-six-airbus-a330-200-mrtt-on-lease-in-2021/ Article discusses the lease if 6 A330 MRTT's from Airtanker to the Indian air force with a surge reserve fleet if 2-3 aircraft. Aircraft will be maintained in the UK. Means Airtanker may end up leasing up to 23 A330 MR...

Possible Voyager Boom upgrade
As many will know the RAF currently operate a large number of Boom capable aircraft that currently lack a tanker that can AAR with them. Types such as the Airseeker, P8, C17, Wedgetail, and possibly F35A (in the future if the MOD decide to purchase). Therefore the defence review will probably look a...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2021 - General Discussion Thread
I would imagine MRTT the FRIAT enclosure can be made longer as there will be less tents etc filling up the crowd line to allow for social distancing.
