Re: Lakenheath "Excalibur VII"

Great stuff Keith, thanks for posting! Really does bring back the memories of these fantastic events, I think my first was Excalibur VI which was the only edition the 527thAS WR F-16's attended before the unit disbanded. Unfortunately they were parked out of bounds for photographing and could only b...

Re: Dutch Serial Long Shot

Crikey! Dutch Troopship's were almost weekley visitors into Norwich airport for maintenance but also a stalwart of airshows during that period along with the Grasshoppers team! Alouette 3's and Bo105's from 299 and 298 squadron's(?) were also very regular at UK airshows. Sorry but think you've got y...

That LN Vark looks immaculate - very nice indeed.
I agree but interestingly it is marked with the 494th TFS badge (Panthers) but the black and yellow tail fin marks along with the yellow cheatline on the nose-wheel door are all 493rd markings.

Good advice you guys! Before anybody throws their toys out, Lakenheath is never "Closed". There's only the possibility of operationally required Flying & Movements on those Notam published days = No routine flying. The following is also a personal observation, USAF Bases in the UK. not only observe...

Some said the same about the F-16 - now everyone loves them.
Nope, not all of us said that! The F-16 is a whole different kettle of fish, F-35s ARE dull and will forever remain so.

Re: US and Britain to conduct airstrikes

Egypt has been bombing Yemen for years with the Saudi led coalition which got them nowhere. Sixty years ago Egypt was backing the Yemenis who wanted to kick UK out of Aden. And what relevence does this have to do with the current situation which is entirely different? Houthi rebels backed by Iran d...

Re: US and Britain to conduct airstrikes

Just on the point of identification, I am curious as this is a joint operation between UK and USA, if it goes on for as long as the Prime Minister says it will, do the individuals involved receive a campaign medal. How does the government decide when a campaign medal is awarded? What an odd curiosi...

And some nice other stuff too Tanker Ray, they stripped quite a bit off the AL-1 first off. I assume some airline used the spares?
Any reason the spares couldn't be used for the VC-25s? I assume some parts must be interchangable with the presidents 747s?

BBC news website carrying same story - and presumably other "more reliable" media outlets. No it's the very same image that Vulcanone is referring too, which clearly shows it's knackered!

Sorry to go off topic but the rarest sighting for me in my locality were 4x Viggens escorted by 4 Jaguars, I think from 54 Squadron low level through the Usk valley between Brecon & Sennybridge whilst having a drink with my family outside the White House Hotel in Sennybridge ( cracking beer garden ...

Re: Unknown F-16 at Tucson 4-11-2023

Are you sure it isn't an old F-16A??

It is missing the small antenna on the triangular base of the fin, one of the only exterior differences to identify between A and C models.

It's just an F-111E with a replacement, unpainted radome - unless you mean the EF-111A's? I kinda worked that one out for myself🙄 I just wondered if he knew the serial number so that I could make a model of it😁 Thanks Atech It's actually the nose-cone from an EF-111A, not an unpainted one. Someone ...

Re: The Last Phantom @ Ramstein 25-06-1986

OH WOW  ...until the final compliment of F-16A's arrived. I think the 86th TFW transitioned to the F-16C and didn't receive any A models but I could be wrong? Certainly those photographed here are both C models (84-1286 delivered to RS Feb 86 and 84-1316 in May 86 (later with the 50th at Hahn...
