Re: Swiss AF F-18s 24-11-21

I agree with that..................Lossie is now pretty crowded, and the old Charlie/Delta ramp will be full of P8's and Wedgetails (well, 2 or 3 maybe). Let's hope that there is not a general fall in the amount of future visitors, and detachments.

Re: For Sale. Complete set of Observers Aircraft books.

Personally, not interested in this offer, but sounds like a really good buy, for a complete set in good condition.

Must be a great investment opportunity for someone.

Re: RAF aircraft serials with names

Just as well the list is for current aircraft only. As recently as the 1960's and 70's, the entire Britannia fleet were named (all after stars, apart from "Argo"), and the Belfast fleet named after mythological or biblical giants. Seems that the general trend is to name larger transport or maritime ...

Re: Aviation Books to read

"Category Five"......Colin Cummings This is an older book, but is a really interesting one for the RAF enthusiast. It is a catalogue of RAF aircraft losses from 1954 to 2009. Readers will be familiar with many of the accidents listed in this comprehensive volume. Interesting to see the accident rate...

Re: NEXT P-8 DELIVERY

Using 07 this afternoon:- A few right hand circuits (unusual for 07), followed by a few left hand circuits, before disappearing out to the North (still up there somewhere).

Thanks Bluetail:- Did wander why the Typhoon did a tight 360 deg orbit, and then turn right over the Moray Firth and off in the direction of Lossie.

Re: Name Change (One for the Admins)

Just to remind us, the army have this afternoon erected a large sign, saying "Welcome to Kinloss Barracks", right opposite the viewing hut unfortunately.

I am sure that they did it in good faith though.

Noticed the new fence also:- centre section wooden structure, and the remainder concrete posts.

Centre section a good height for taking photographs etc.

Also this afternoon, the first action at Kinloss for months:- Typhoon overshoots from 3 pm onwards.

Re: Kinloss update

A couple of centreline (07) approach lights still missing on the bay side of the Findhorn road......I take it that the P8's will not be night flying in their build up.

Re: Kinloss update

Checked out the access path to the observation hut this afternoon, and it has indeed been cleared (even did a bit myself at the weekend). They have done a great job thus far. Some of the whins at the front end may have to be cleared, but this is a brilliant effort, and great news for enthusiasts and...

Re: Kinloss update

First two P8s due Feb 2020, to operate for a few months until Lossie is ready. Typhoons due around June 2020 for a few weeks while the runway intersection work at Lossie is completed. Work ongoing at present on the runway at Kinloss. This is the latest info (subject to change of course, as always)…....
