Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

If the RAF are going to impose an entry charge of £5 per head for the WAVE, then why not open up the top end crash gate and have a park & view again? It would certainly make more sense, be much safer for everyone and possibly make a much greater return. This has been discussed by the base, but I be...

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

I can assure you Lee, that The WAVE does not get a penny from gate receipts. RAF personnel will be on the gates and marshalling traffic. All monies raised on the gate will go towards paying for the costs of extra toilets and what's left goes to the RAF Benevolent Fund. Everything in the information...

shame they don't have a viewing platform like Johns field

We're trying to get one, but they're not cheap and needs planning permission which has been refused in the past

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

All The WAVE is interested in is selling you people, food and drink and ensuring you can all keep safe and enjoy the exercise. It's sad that after 10 years of tenure, were still getting negative comments, but that's the nature of the best. Not everyone will be happy and to a degree, neither am I, b...

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

Requests have been put in for hedge cutting and they have said it will be cut in time, so we're hopeful the hedge won't be an issue

Re: Waddington parking + the Wave

Thanks for answering Mike, appreciate that.

Were most definitely still open with a bigger and better menu for visitors.

Hedge is being looked into as we speak, but last we heard was that it wont be cut for two years. We are obviously fighting this.

Cheers

Re: Dead?

Winds have been a problem all week, but third RJ was delivered yesterday.
Taxiway is still being worked on until at least August, so the acceptance of any visiting aircraft is down to the ATC as when the requests come in.

Re: XM607

Yeah, very shabby sadly, but hopefully once the base has settled down and the new taxiway finished (about 6 months time) plans should be in place to preserve her.

Re: XM607

The aircraft has had a structural survey and needs mostly cosmetic work, apart from a couple of areas that need strengthening. There are plans to restore her from several interested parties

Re: Runway reopen

The runway has been flattened to the extent that you can see the other end now, but there still remains a raised central section. Work has now started to completely rebuild the delta taxiway which runs behind the Vulcan. Had Red Arrow, King Airs, White 'Shadow' Trainer, grey Shadow and Islanders all...

Re: Runway reopen

I have been told that Waddington will be very busy when it reopens and i believe the flare trials will be part of that. There are three E-3's at home, and i believe two Sentinels. There was 2 Shadows due home today, but got cancelled, although one was the white one G-LBSB, i presume to the bomb scar...

Runway reopen

RAF Waddington should reopen its runway today. There will be a FOD check and flight checker has to do its calibrations, but after 26 months, the base is reopened and the WAVE is still open for business :) Hopefully start to see some of you guys return as the aircraft do. It's been an incredibly diff...

Re: Waddington Open Yet

Runway is being handed back to base on 21st November and we already have flying between Tuesday and Thursday. A slow return will be seen of all aircraft after this date. Runway lights were tried and tested for the first time today and looked very impressive. Virtually all machinery and barriers have...

Re: Waddington Open Yet

No flying on Mondays or Fridays yet.
November is the date for runway completion, so expect full flying to resume soon after that.
