Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread

I wouldn't have even expected a five pound refund. Something that you take a risk against if booking eight months in advance. Would you expect a refund if you got wet one day at Glastonbury. I'll claim expenses for my waterlogged boots shall I. RIAT/DBH if you're reading this hopefully you will be c...

Re: Tracking military flights - a bit of a wierd one!

Curiousposter. If you have no idea what size it was, then there is no way you can determine how far away it was, or how fast it was moving. That is quite correct only I have also witnessed an "event" where I had no idea how high/altitude or speed. I witnessed a formation of lights but with no evide...

Re: Aviano F-16s

Are they expected to return to Italy on Friday? If so, what's the liklihood of them having a day off/preparation day tomorrow and therefore not flying. I have the chance to visit tomorrow and don't want a 160 roud trip wasted. Thanks This is a good point for anyone thinking about a last chance long...

Re: Bentwaters 23/06/18

We're on holiday in Suffolk next month and Bentwaters is on the list. So can you just drive onto the airfield and wander up to these aircraft? Any advice received with thanks. Regards, Ferrari No you can't just drive in as it is all private property. There are large storage companies and film studi...

Re: READY69 US Army CH-47F

Thanks everybody, much appreciated.
I thought it was another RAF Chinook, but they never come over from that (North - South) direction across the old Rougham airfield. Was a nice surprise when I took a closer look at the writing down the side!

Cheers

Re: News: F-16 Crashes on take off, 21-06-17

I've been to Ellington field many times over the years so feel well qualified to state it was a grasshopper caused compressor stall. There's loads there in the trees. Is it possible that the moderators on Fighter Control, try and get "like" buttons installed on these forums? For all of the frivolit...

Production team from Playtone productions recently made a visit to Thorpe Abbots regarding production of "The Mighty Eighth" mini series. This is the Speilberg/Tom Hanks production team who made Band Of Brothers & The Pacific. Talk of this has been around for past three four years.

Re: In memory of Simon

A bit of a shock even though I didn't personally know him. It's possible I might have exchanged words at either Lakenheath or Mildenhall. I've been a regular follower of his Flickr photo stream & only yesterday evening had a look at one truly amazing photo - the "Cockpit Sunrise" which I think shoul...

Re: ACPV Coningsby and the Cursed Stepladders from Hell

Well I must well and truly apologise for bringing my friends hobby to a standstill after wobbling off the top of the stepladders that he then proceeded to use. I now have a weight complex as I must be so fat and overweight that the support struts bent when I went up them, which then caused St...

Re: ACPV Coningsby and the Cursed Stepladders from Hell

Which shot has the ladders :S Unfortunately I had left the scene after I made my fall and monkey swing from the fence. Steve my accomplice would certainly have murdered me if I had taken a photo of him falling through the air. There are pictures of the aftermath but they are classified under an "Ey...

Best advice I can give is don't go up any that I've just used as you're doomed. Either they were cursed from the start or I am!
