Re: RAF Mildenhall to close. Lakenheath to get F-35 by 2020

The basing of F-35s at Lakenheath is no pawn: "“...(Flight, July 2019)... an exciting milestone for the (USAF’s 48th Fighter Wing) as we prepare this installation to welcome two squadrons of F-35A Lightning II aircraft and supporting personnel,” says Colonel William Marshall, commander of the 48th F...

Yes, 227 & 228 in the evening. This one MM62229 returned today, tanking, but too far south of me. Suggestion that the Tiffs were from 37Stormi, Trapani.

All 5th gen fighters live east of Wolfe Ave / south of the NASA Dryden area. Would not recommend trying to get too close!

Re: Davies Monthan

Double Eagle are the sole licencee now AFAIK. Go for early morning Sat or Sun when the base is inactive and you'll get more time overhead. Their C172s are weight limted so unless you are all very small, forget 3 up. You can read A-10s off with good lens/optics from the Pima Cty museum car park (subj...

Re: Middle East tensions increase

They got a lot further than almost ordering early F-16s, following the Jan'79 revolution, their order for 75 F-16A/Bs was diverted to Israel! Ironically soon after delivery some if these were used against Iran's sworn enemy!

Re: Lakenheath Big Cats Sunday 07-Sept-2018

A friend asks, do the LN F-15s still carry names, White Walrus etc, or have they disappeared. Is there a topic on FC with a full list?

Re: Lakenheath base tour

Hi guys, I am listed on the tour but have a question: will anyone be able to give me a ride to Stansted after the visit for a 19.50 flight (so to be there around 18.30 or earlier)? Of course, if anyone else is heading for Sliac, please send me a PM!! This assumes that the bus we use on base will sta...

Re: Red Arrows RAF Scampton air base to be sold off

With the Royal Air Force now run by second rate CPAs who couldn't get a job in industry, Wittering makes perfect sense. All the MoD has to do is buy a few NO PARKING signs and some traffic enforcement cameras and set them up on the A-1. Obv the Reds wont have the appeal of the PT, SC, SD etc SLUFs o...

Re: India v Pakistan

Between the procurement process in the Indian MOD and the IAF safety record I'm surprised that the PAF don't just sit back and wait 'till the Indians run out of airframes.
Back in the day it was said that the easist way to acquire an F-104 was to buy a field in Germany .... and wait!
