Re: E7 Wedgetail order reduction

And they'll have to store the two sets of unused equipment somewhere, maybe the bean-counters took that into account?

Re: Italian Airforce 100th anniversary 2023

I have a feeling that the bus from Laurentina is going to be very busy! Considering how close to Rome the base is, I think it is pretty remiss of them not to have set up a straightforward way of getting to the Show by public transport.

If anyone has missed out, Scramble are still selling BARG issues 1 & 4 on their website ;) https://www.scramble.nl/shop/barg-combi
However for a UK resident it is cheaper to buy them from https://bargdvd.co.uk/shop/ and we also have DVDs 2 and 3 in stock!

Re: BARG 4

We did assess alternative media formats, please remember that the project began well before DVD 2 appeared in 2016. When we launched DVD2 we were advised that CD/DVD were still the most popular and useable formats so that is the way we went. It wasn't as if we were going to produce thousands, for a...

Re: Russian Spy Ships Near RAF Lossiemouth

In over 30 years in ATC at Heathrow and London Centre I never had one Eastern Bloc aircraft deviate from its assigned route. In fact on one occasion in the 1990s I was asked to vector an Aeroflot Il-62 tracking along B1 between Dublin and Wallasey slightly off-route by the RAF controller, presumably...

Re: Chalgrove Airfield (Houses)

Over the past few years the Meteor has spent time at Cazaux, not just a day trip. I suspect that is where they do a lot of flight testing.

Re: Air Tanker South Atlantic Airbridge.

Yes you would think with the current situation that most airliners etc, would take more advantage of the quieter airspace and fly a quicker direct route. Air Traffic Controller's do this on a small scale frequently by directing certain flights to different way points more directly. Must be some rea...

Re: Google Earth

Could be worse....some airfields in Europe have been pixelated out All airfields/airports in Greece are pixelated along with a good few in France. Some in the Netherlands too. However in many cases, I've only checked France, it is possible to scroll back to earlier images that are not pixelated, so...

Re: Canon EOS 80D vs 7D Mark II

I trust Ken Rockwell for all photographic reviews https://kenrockwell.com/. I upgraded from a 60D to a 7D Mark 2 last year and have not regretted it. Two downsides, the 7D range is heavier than the x0D series and I did like the flip out viewing screen which I presume has been carried over to the 80D...

Re: Anyon know why Qinetic/ETPS are going 'Civil'?

Since the infamous report of the Afghanistan Nimrod crash and the setting up of the MAA, the latter have been seen to be very overbearing. On a visit to Chalgrove, they wanted more personnel than M-B employ there just to get a Meteor out of the hangar. So M-B got Permit to Fly from the CAA and now t...

Re: RAF to scrap twin-seat Typhoons

I suspect that the numbers of two-seaters vs single seaters was based on previous experience. In the past there has been a relatively high attrition rate with the two-seat training aircraft; this has not happened to the Typhoon fleet and as the ZJxxx T.3s are effectively obsolete why not make the be...
