Re: Pima Museum Sept 74 Pt 4

Lovely series. I got there in '83 and '88 and the collection had changed a bit and some restoration had been done but quite a few hadn't changed that much since 1974!

Re: Opinions wanted

I too edit my scanned slides to give a finished 3x2 or 1500 x 1000 pixels if you prefer. As to intruding artefacts, I do tend to take out some quite small bits of airfield "furniture" that perhaps detract from the image, especially where they look like an extra aerial but mostly I stick with what I ...

Re: N37566 O-2 / C337

Those aren't nwd's. I have photos of Portuguese ones with these open and the nose wheel extended which is actually between them. You need a 337 expert to tell you exactly what they do but I also have pics of them flying with them both open and closed!

Re: Current B52s at Fairford as of 11-10-2019

But I've been doing it for 55yrs next April. I'd say that's not many considering there were 744 built. That's about the same as me, 55 years last August and have seen 108 of all marks - that includes about 15 at Griffiss AFB in 1980 though, so not all in the UK. :) mmmm started logging in 1970 and ...

Is that the Lanceri Neri F-86 that used to be on a plinth at Cameri?

Very nice set of gate guards.

Re: NAS Miramar '74 - part 1

I asked on the Facebook WIX page It has apparently been in the San Diego museum for a l-o-n-g time Not sure how I missed that   The confusion is with the one in the USS Yorktown which some sources say is 79669 but is actually 79593 Well according to their own web page the San Diego one wa...

Re: NAS Miramar '74 - part 4

Gorgeous series  We got the none photo tour in 1981 when there were still RF-8s on the ramp which was a bit of a bummer, also got the N Island no you can't photograph or make notes tour but we will drive you all the way round! VC-7 had gone by the time I visited but VFC-13 had moved in instead...

Re: NAS Miramar '74 - part 1

Very nice set. I was looking up that Hellcat recently as it has been confused with the one in the San Diego museum, both being ex NACA/NASA! This one certainly seems to have totally vanished.

Re: B2 EDWARDS AFB OCT 1990

82-1067 was the second B-2A and first flew 19th October 1990 from Palmdale to Edwards! 82-1066 should have been based at Edwards in 1990 while 82-1068 made its first flight on 18 June 1991.

Re: Mostly going Dutch #4

Despite even seeing the YF-16s at Edwards in '74, I've never been a fan of them! I'm probably the solitary FC member who is. Photographed my first one at Paris '75 and the most recent at RIAT 2019 and while I have hundreds, if not thousands of F-16 photos they do not have the charisma of the jets t...
