Re: RAF Mildenhall to close. Lakenheath to get F-35 by 2020

Are you suggesting that Mildenhall was chosen for closure to protect a Base in America? Wouldn't the Rand Corporation which is effectively the USAF's research foundation want to maintain as many bases as possible regardless of where they are in order to maintain the USAF's global reach?

Re: Gary Powers U2 Wreckage, Moscow

Yep, saw it there 20 years or more ago. I thought it would have been made a central exhibit. When I saw it, it was just roped off in a corner, with little made of it!. Peculiar. Only recognised it from the air intakes. I must have seen it in the mid nineties as well, seem to remember at being stuck...

Re: Norfolk Museum Advice please

Hi folks went down to Flixton yesterday. What a fantastic place, so much stuff crammed into every space. We had a great time and even managed to clock an F15 over Oulton Broad later on. Happy days! Thanks everybody for their suggestions, plenty to still go and see in forthcoming visits.

Great pics and the black and white shot is very moving. If this weather keeps up might take a blast up on my bike, assuming it gets through the MOT later today.

Re: The Peterhead Lightning

About 20 years ago wasn't there a Lightning on display in the South Gyle area of Edinburgh? I am sure that I saw one from a passing train once. It certainly used to sit on a roundabout there as a division of BAe had offices there. Been a while since I was down that way but I think she may have been...
