Re: Len Calibration - How and have you done it?

Re: Len Calibration - How and have you done it?

I'll let you know tomorrow! Purchased a Canon77d with the L series 70-300 in January as my 1st bit of kit for some years and the combo has performed faultlessly (barring the usual user error😉). I found the lens to be a bit short-legged so bought the Sigma 150-600 contemporary a month ago and I've s...

Re: Len Calibration - How and have you done it?

Thanks guys.. I think I'd look at sending them away rather than doing it myself as I'd like to seem them done in a controlled environment.. All the comments seem to be of the "yes, it's worth calibrating"..

Thanks again!

Len Calibration - How and have you done it?

Hi All, I have been a photographer for a few years taking aviation pictures at airshows etc, and others in the group have mentioned its important to calibrate lenses with each of your camera bodies. Having researched this area of the hobby, it seems a mine field of paying for a dedicated service to ...

Re: Southport airshow

One of the special formations this year is the Blades with the Tucano as its the last display for that type... shame as I thought the Tucano was a great aircraft, not too sure on the Texan, seems okay at RIAT, but didn't seem quite so nice on the prop noise! I'm done for the airshow season this year...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread

I didn't really notice the distance, but seem fairly close on Sunday.. Saturday for me at least (being the first time), I had my mouth open, so I probably would have been happy if it was miles away! Not sure why the show was so quite on Sunday, but it mean more room in the grandstand almost falling ...

Re: First time RIAT group thread?

Hi Guys, All I can say is "wow"... when is 2020.. What a show for our first time.. Loved the grandstand, we had the back row and mostly no one sat around us.. So could spread out and the baggage drop is a great touch.. Totterdown Farm gave us everything we needed, apart from a lift from the tent to ...

Re: Criticism on Canon 7D II with Sigma 150-600mm

Hi chaps, i use this lens on my Nikon D7200 and ive found that higher shutter speeds helps a lot with the overall sharpness of the image, i found that shutter speeds between 1/1600-1/2000 is perfect for crystal sharp images, obviously this only an option when your shooting jets. Also i'm not sure w...

Thanks Mark... I'll maybe look at that for RIAT... Trying to balance the TV/AV/ISO is the challenge.. It wasn't the best day weather wise as mentioned above..

Criticism on Canon 7D II with Sigma 150-600mm

Hi All, I'm after some criticism on the photos on my Flickr account and if I can improve them somehow! This is the first time out with this combination and had some tough times with the weather and sky etc.. RIAT is coming up and want to make sure I get the best out of the equipment and editing... Sunday was a great last day of the weekend, the weather managed to stop when needed for the airshow side! I even managed to catch the sun on my face

I hope those that made the effort to come had a great day out.. now the fun begins to edit all the photos!

Re: Last Wings & Wheels event at Dunsfold

It wasn’t too bad to be honest.. they did have a lot of rain before the event and on site was a little muddy, but the car park free flowed and we did have a shower for about 20mins! All in all, a great day and the little/large extra 300 was amazing! How to get some picture tomorrow as unfortunately ...

Re: Shutter Speed with 7D & 150-600mm

I personally find os mode 1 to be better, yes you could set your aperture at that, but to make life easier you can put it into TV mode or shutter priority. this means you can set the shutter speed and the camera will work out the aperture this can be important because if the scene your shooting kee...

Re: Shutter Speed with 7D & 150-600mm

Hi All, Those of you that own a longer length like the 150-600m sigma etc, how to you get in focus prop aircraft and keep the shutter speed for the disc affect? I have setup a custom C2 for 1/60th-1/320th, and AI Servo.. is it a case of panning and continuous shooting to get a few keepers? Seem to ...
