Re: ITV series - Fighter Pilot, the real Top Gun

Great insight into the training and abilities of this new aircraft. I think some commentators on FC forget that a lot of information is regarded as Classified and a highly skilled pilot and the technology still has certified limits. Looking forward to the next episode as well as visual observation o...

Re: ITV series - Fighter Pilot, the real Top Gun

If I saw it, no doubt many thousand others saw it, and how are the statement makers going to enforce that. Much ado about nothing. Looking forward to a modern day insight into fast jet flyers.

How about if several hundred FCers gathered along the Loop complete with Welsh and US flags to wave as the LN flights came through?
Waving should be fine, less chance of FOD, rather than a sea of distractive banners.

Re: US F15e pilot displays Welsh flag over Snowdonia

There probably are, but in all aspects of life, humans will have a bit of fun or occassionally stray away. Not for one minute would I think a crew member would jeopardise their life or the safety of the pilot and airframe. It is known they play music on board, alcohol in travel pods ( particularly n...

Re: US F15e pilot displays Welsh flag over Snowdonia

Maybe they have a slightly more relaxed approach once the mission is over and they're nearly home. Coupled with a PR angle towards winning friends and a moment of fun. Maybe a telling off or comment by the base commander but hopefully no harm done. Unlike the RAF Typhoon pilot and subsequent lack of...

Point taken though being pedantic it was the Weapons System Officer, not the Pilot. Time out fella.

Re: Plane Spotting Live

I love the way some of you guys criticise an experienced RAF fighter pilot / instructor / tester over his failure to correctly identify immediately from a photo, the exact livery or paint identification of a fast military jet. The guy flew Buccaneer/Jaguar and Hawks for real and on missions. He shoul...

Re: Current RAF aircraft

I remember watching a black and white "live" grainy TV film of TSR2 taking to the air, wonderful as was the 2 day coverage of Farnborough with the gravelly voiced Raymond Baxter. Went to Dunsfold to watch the Kestrel hovering. We were pioneers as a nation, my father engineering for Hawker Siddley. F...

Re: Middle East tensions increase

Enforcing EU sanctions is quite different from all out war though isn’t it. Yes, very much so but it doesn't seem to be working if that country is ignoring them and the USA warnings whilst forging ahead to have nuclear power and weapons however soon or long that may take. Thankfully they held back ...

Re: Middle East tensions increase

Of course we have a choice! I really don't see any of the U.S. allies having any appetite for taking on Iran in any kind of war scenario. Really? UK troops board oil tanker carrying Iranian crude oil in " Spanish" waters after the USA tracks it's passage. Against EU sanctions - could all be fake ne...

Re: Middle East tensions increase

Looks like it will kick off again very soon following today's announcement regarding uranium enrichment. Cannot see the POTUS cow toing to Iran for much longer. Will they go it alone or seek Allies? We don't have a choice do we.

Thanks for the responses, did read that almost all F14s were crushed, gate guards or museumed - better lay off the evening cheese.

Re: Middle East tensions increase

A few years ago Iran was becoming more moderate until tough Western sanctions gave the Iranian hard liners the ammunition they needed. It is pathetic the way both sides are behaving. "He flew into our airspace so we will shoot it down". Ridiculous , they should raise the issue with the UN not threa...
