I lost the site completely around 10.30-ish, failed connection to server for around 20 minutes (or until I gave up). Every other site working fine.

Hi Gadgetman, the Queen Bee thing's a myth, they came from Weybourne and there was no catapult at Stiffkey, Wilfrid Georges map is labelled incorrectly. The circular tarmac track - is a post war thing for launching the RCATs. The RCAT's (officially OQ-19D's) were pretty big, 12 foot wingspan, 140+kg...

Was Stiffkey ever a WW2 airfield as such? I thought it was a Bofors training site with a 25 pounder gun line behind the village. 73 Squadron (Huntingdon), which met at RAF Brampton, from 1976-1979 IIRC. Flights in Chipmunks and the UAS's Auster. Camps at Wyton and the best one was at RAF Catterick when the RAF Regiment was there. We had one exercise on one of the local moors having to make sure we didn't get run over by Chief...
