Re: E7 Wedgetail order reduction

The MoD already has a way of using very small fleets of highly valuable assets to meet some of its most critical needs (Nimrod R1, RC-135, Vanguard, Astute, etc.) so I expect the powers that be are already familiar with what they need to do to be successful. Quite an assumption and time will tell.

Wonder how long before a further "review" decides that they do need 5 after all?
Th UK has been operating with only 3 Sentrys for a considerable length of time already.
Probably enforced. Why initially order 5 E-7s for the review to cut that to 3 for any other reason than economics?

All the E-7s will be converted by STS in Birmingham. The first two jets are second-hand BBJs, the third and last will be new-build.

Re: E7 Wedgetail order reduction

Unlike the P-8s, It will probably roll out as a greenie and not be painted until the wedge is installed and flight testing is mostly complete. My understanding is that under the original arrangement all the aircraft were to be converted to E-7s at the STS facility at Birmingham airport, I'm assumin...

Re: Mystery Portuguese Gino

Had a dig around this morning and couldn't find any reference to a G-91T displayed at Sao Bras De Alportel. The one suggested by Mustang531 above appears to have been last noted in Parque Duarte Pacheco, Loule in June 2001 with no other reported sightings seemingly available after that date.

Re: USAF T-43 Query

From a quick bit of digging this morning my understanding is that 'Bobcats' was the nickname for the 200th AS and this has translated over time to be thought of as the name of the T-43 in CO ANG service. "Despite a rich history, and countless accolades, the Air Force decided to consolidate assets an...

RAF Marham - September 2003

Afternoon all, Long shot with this one and apologies for the vagaries involved. Looking to tie up some dates/serials for possibly 4 x Italian AF AMX believed to have been working with II(AC) Sqn at Marham in September (?) 2003. At least two separate pairs were noted at LL in the Lakes area by a frie...

Haven't looked at this thread for some time so apologies for the dated comments. Noted on the 16th December 2020 were the following with callsigns indicating use by a squadron different from that indicated in the main list. ZK427 - Jedi 11 ZK334 - Jedi 12 ZK377 - Jedi 14 ZK331 - Voodoo 11 (need some...

Re: GAF Eurofighter Designation

From experience in earlier jobs I suspect that the MAM designations are assumed given the build numbers of GS*** & GT*** for the German singles and twins. Also in correspondence with German crews they invariably referred to the aircraft as EF2000 and EF2000T for single and twin respectively.

Kinloss - 8 October 2020

Made the trip up to Kinloss last week to catch some Bolthole activity before the move back to Lossiemouth. In short great weather all morning and a short blast of sunshine in the late afternoon for the return of one of the P-8s and the afternoon Typhoons which sandwiched the grot weather in between....

Assuming the A-29s are in the group the support Dornier is currently on an easterly heading over KSA tracking toward Damman/Bahrain.

Certainly not blaming the organisers, Tom ;)

We made enquiries and soon found out who insisted on the farce being put in place :grr:
Didn't think that PB, just adding a bit to the discussion.

Cheers, Tom
