Re: RAF BINBROOK hangar & flightline tour 5th August 1987

Great pictures and background info 3greens. I’ve said this countless times before, but for someone who would have been too young to appreciate it at the time, these pictures are a great way of trying to live vicariously through others’ experiences of Binbrook and the Lightning. I regularly drive th...

I've tried to read the serial on the Vulcan, but can't, but I think it's a 44 Squadron machine, someone will know for definite.
I downloaded it, made it monochrome and turned up the contrast while turning down the brightness. Serial shows plainly as XH483

I note that the RN example is carrying it's Paris Air Show number. Sorry, but that is the squadron code surely? XT865 doesn't show in Scrambles Show report for Le Bourget '71 https://www.scramble.nl/database/show-reports/france/le-bourget-1971 This was 1969 at Leuchars https://live.staticflickr.com...

I've seen all of those flying!
My first Airshow was RAF Turnhouse BofB show 1958
We always want to see pics like this, no matter how faded
But no camera for another 6 years or so.

Re: More Bought Prints – Constellations

Wow, what a selection and even camo Connie's! Thanks for sharing. Paul A There were 29 EC-121R converted from various Navy types. By the time of my visit to MASDC in '74, 3 had been written off. The other 26 were in MASDC but despite a bus trip that allowed us to get off and run around, we never go...

More Bought Prints – Constellations

Continuing my scanned prints – Graphic heavy! The fine vertical scratches on some were from using an HP6520 to feed and scan a pile of prints automatically. They were fed over a strip of glass around 5mm wide. However, a piece of paper dust on the glass from the prints caused the multiple fine scrat...

Re: IWM Duxford 'Spies in the Skies' Display

Having moved back to Scotland, from Somerset, Duxford isn't quite 'along the road' so much now, so a visit is a major exercise and my usual 'Legends' excuse is no longer available, so I doubt I will see this, but I do need to see that Electra!!

It didn't stay long, leaving around 6:40 for Brize
I was driving along the main road past the airport and thought the lights on whatever was taking off were quite far apart!

Re: How many types of C-47 have you photographed ? (with added Russian copies)

eLaReF great photos of Ryan Field in its heyday, we arrived late as the light was going and I was saving my slide film for DM the following day ! One of the reasons I never used slides. I grew up using the back of the Ilford carton for my exposure guide so B&W was far more forgiving when I got it w...

Re: How many types of C-47 have you photographed ? (with added Russian copies)

The photos below are just from one airfield in 1974 Ryan Field, nr Tucson, AZ - Your last shot from there Aero American had bought a batch from MASDC and was slowly working through rebuilding them, although by that time, quite a few never got any further. The majority of those we saw that did escape...

Re: Leconfield Open Day - 20th July 1974

Interesting shot of an ATC unit, one of my former work colleagues was in a Kent based Squadron, sometime during the Sixties, he told me that he'd been to Leconfield for a Summer camp. He told me that he remembered the Lightnings, one day there was a scramble. He also told me that an Anson turned up...
