Re: Next batch question
Look East has just mentioned "next week" for the arrival of the next batch in a report on Chuckie's visit.

Re: Which ATC Squadron are/were you a member of?
I forget the squadron number, but were were a Detached Flight of one of the Sheffield squadrons based in the Hope Valley and I was a member in the late '80s.
However, I can remember our callsign which was MRQ20.

Re: Info search - 13x Il-10 crashes 1951
I would like to get a hold of a copy of the booklet that's been produced and make a translation. Even if all thirteen aircraft were affected by the incorrect fuel in the drop tanks (a very good theory) I find it strange that thirteen aircraft (out of how many? that's also not clear) all failed to ma...

This is the adjacent plot with another six of the victims of the same incident. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8168/29059221952_4a2b8f4ca9_c.jpg It was the scale of the loss that grabbed my attention when I found the information that's available online. I hadn't really paid much attention at the ceme...

From what I've found there's principally one reference source that's used in a few places, with odd snippets being included in only one repetition and not others. http://www.maz-online.de/Lokales/Teltow-Flaeming/Massenabsturz-von-Militaerfliegern-bei-Kemlitz http://www.lr-online.de/regionen/spreewal...

Info search - 13x Il-10 crashes 1951
Visiting Berlin last week I paid a visit to the Soviet cemetery south of Potsdam. There are some intriguing memorials relating to an incident that doesn't seem to feature in the English language areas of the web. From what I can determine (from mostly re-hashings of the same source), on 14th April 1...

The images are the same size, consistent background (I guess you need a good photo editing software to do this?) and the images load quick. All three features you mention: - Identically sized images - Consistent background - Fast loading images Are all about better image preparation, nothing to do ...

He is saying that it is funny that Lincolnshire Boston Council have fitted side cameras to bin lorries. (Why I don't know). and apparently someone has been prosecuted for dangerous driving. (He doesn't know if its true). Three people that I know of have had their cars, hit by bin lorries while they...

11:48L Holbeach Range informs HM Coastguard on CH16 that the range is now closed.
I've not heard that one before, is it normal practice to announce the closing of the range on CH16?

Re: F-15s over Marham
I can't be precise, but I can say who was in the area at that time from my mode-s logs..
<AE1CD4> WARDOG21
<AE1CD1> REAPER11
<AE1CC7> DOZER13
<AE2817> DOZER12
I believe they're all F-15C aircraft, and they were all active in the area for about an hour from about 8am onwards.

Re: hunter 1 & 2
Could be on STANTA or Sculthorpe. You'll get similar type of target chatter when Coningsby/Marham based aircraft are working with MAGIC along the North Norfolk coast - sometimes you'll get a latitude/longitude and can work out where the target is, sometimes it's obvious from the voice descriptions a...

Re: Reporting Live Ops threads
If a mission was 11 hours it's easy to see why 5 hours notice could be used by a conventional enemy to position air defences, or alert their crews to the possibility of attack thereby removing the element of surprise. There's a certain limitation in applying the formula (average airspeed) x (missio...

Re: Reporting Live Ops threads
The problem with what was posted up the other night was the information was pretty much spot on, numbers of a/c involved and their intended destination, timings etc etc... Ok the actual target wasn't mentioned and in all reality it was never known on here. However here lays the problem in that we p...

Re: Reporting Live Ops threads
There's a risk of taking FC too seriously, of underestimating how manipulable armchair enthusiasts (of any flavour) can be, and far too often of accepting appearances at face value. It wouldn't be that hard for those that manage such thing to spoof the population of a forum such as this into generat...

Re: AMARC UK?
I'm an H&S adviser, and often see H&S get the blame when the reality is that 99% of the time whenever it's advertised as the fault of H&S the truth is that someone didn't want to pay to do something the proper way. And it's cheaper to blame H&S than do it properly - because everyone wants to believe...
