Re: USA April/May 1975

Most definitely of interest, Arnold. Gee, what a selection of types. Some real gems there, but the camo T-29 is quite a novelty. Thanks for posting.

Regards, Terry.

A lovely selection of pictures there. Thanks for posting. Is there any particular reason that the Blue Angels have two aircraft coded 2?

Viewed from my house it was coded 339, which I assumed to be 169339. No unit markings on the tail.

Re: Red Arrows

Just wondering if anyone knew the route the Arrows took going south.Heard a lot of noise From the Perth direction from Carnoustie at about 10:30ish on Friday but despite clear skies saw nothing. At 20-30 miles With the good Binos out in these conditions think I would have seen 10 jets. Didnt even se...

Re: Lossie 78-79 The Germans

I remember G-BAPL, and its blue and white predecessor, G-ATLC, also an Aztec. Ex-Navy Buccaneer man Pete Lewis, who owned/ran the Clifton Bar in Lossie, undertook some of the Edinburgh flights in G-BAPL I believe. The German Do28s were interesting aircraft, but so slow! When they called up on approa...

Re: Lossie78-79 Dutch, Norwegian and Canadian visitors.

A nice selection there. I have the Kiowas noted on 9/7/79, a very welcome pair of visitors. If I'm not mistaken they arrived at 1826, which shows that in those days at Lossie it didn’t always pay to give up and go home at tea time! I missed the CT-133 you have pictured (should be 133542?), but I did...

Merry Christmas to you, and all the best for the New Year.

Re: Lossie 78-79 A10's.

I remember the two jets you speak about. Might well have been the first A-10s I saw at Lossie. 77-0234 and 77-0245 landed at 1828 on Saturday 16/6/79 (on 05 if I remember correctly) and I photographed them next day taxiing out for departure on 23 at 1315 in glorious sunshine. Ah, happy days!

Re: Lossie 78-79 Misc American aircraft.

I missed those OV-1s and that E-3, but I noted the EC-130Q being here on 15/6/79. My ageing memory might be playing tricks but I think the first E-3 to visit Lossie was 76-1607, which I saw on 17/2/79. It was such a memorable occasion that someone painted the serial on the inside wall of the pillbox...

Atlantique No 3 left southbound this afternoon, so the only one currently at Lossie is No 23.

Re: Valoi Easy 35

Have you checked out the JJC FDA-S1 copying set? Seems much the same thing for less than a third of the price, and the adaptors fit most commonly-used macro lenses. I've no idea how good it is, but at 70-90 quid I'm toying with the idea of trying this as an alternative to my tripod-mounted camera an...

Re: Newbie- looking for advise to upgrade lens

I have no hesitation in buying secondhand, as long as it's from a reputable dealer such as Ffordes, Wex, MPB and LCE. Other reputable dealers are available! Warranties are usually six months, but some dealers offer a year. Read the descriptions carefully to know what condition the lens is in and wha...

Electricity meter certificate expired

Hello All. I have been getting regular letters and emails from my electricity provider, OVO Energy, over the past couple of years, trying to get me to have a smart meter installed. I have resisted so far, mainly because I don't think one is necessary. If I want to save energy costs I switch off anyt...

A superb set of photographs there Ross. Every one a gem. The pic of the Goosander chicks is just lovely, and the Osprey is nicely caught, looking over its wing. I like Ospreys! I'm told there are eight birds regularly fishing on our local River Lossie.

Re: CAR INSURANCE

Got my car insurance renewal quote this week from Co-op. It'll be around £6 less next year than I'm currently paying them. A pleasant surprise considering what I'm reading in this thread.

In contrast, my wife's renewal quote from Churchill is up 25% on last year.

Re: Micro Four Thirds opinions sought

Thanks for all your replies and comments guys. I have been using the G9/100-400 combo for around seven months now, and I'm not yet convinced the purchase was a wise one. The camera seems to give pretty good results in good light and when the subject is quite big in the frame. However, it struggles w...

Re: Head Spinning - Newbie DSLR Purchase

You say your budget was for body and lens if possible, which I'd assumed anyway, but if you're planning on taking in airshows you could really do with a two-lens setup, with a standard zoom for static aircraft and telephoto zoom for flying shots. Hence my recommendations in my earlier reply if you g...
