Really like the Bridlington shot for some reason, very evocative of a much missed era of interesting low level fast jets!
Thanks very much. I was really chuffed to find that strip of negs and then discovering it was German Navy instead of RAF like another on the strip was a real bonus.

Hi Mick :P

Look at those grey/white beasties :Wow:

Pity about the background activity in No.3

Thanks for posting

And to think I chose that one just for you Patrick, as a little bird told me you were a big Grasshoppers fan!

German Navy Tornados

The German Navy was a significant operator of the IDS Tornado which equipped two Wings, MFG 1 @ Schleswig-Jagel and MFG 2 @ Eggebeck. They transitioned to the type from the F-104G, MFG1 in the early '80s and MFG2 a few years later. At first instantly recognizable by their smart grey and white colour...

Think I'm right in saying that XX172 was the 1st. RAF display a/c to appear in a special paint sch, along with its twin, in '86 if memory serves.

How about this retro 1939 camo scheme which 19 Sqn. turned out in 2009!

Nothing like a KS approach for drama, as captured by 1st. two frames.

Re: How many KC135s can you fit in a frame?

Hi all. I've found this one I took at Altus AFB, 7 KC-135's in one shot. Cheers S https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49001680946_8ed11de485_b.jpg USA 2010 Trip 756 by S DEMPSTER , on Flickr I think this will take some beating but I do remember the line - up @ RIAT mentioned above and I do have a p...

Some classic Hawk schemes there but I may have to add a couple in WWII camo in due course.

Re: Dutch retire KDC-10 T-264

Lovely pic of a faithful KLu servant. Unfortunately that's always the way. The shiny new toys get all the attention while the tired old ones are binned. At least this is more photogenic than a Lightning II.

How many KC135s can you fit in a frame?

Well there's 6 in this pic I came across in the attic today. Taken @ Mildenhall in either late July or early August '81.

Air Fete '82 - Whit w/end

Having posted the single pic of Blackbird + Vulcan from this show I thought I'd do a proper job as I found enough other pics of what was one of the classic Air Fetes. The fantastic hot weather helped, but made flying shots even more challenging than usual due to the strength of the sun and lack of c...

Fantastic formations esp the 1st. Is nt that a Venom leading the trio of Vampire trainers? We 're unlikely ever to see a formation like that again, more's the pity!

Morning Patrick. Worth a peek as always. Sorry to be a pedant but #3 definitely is nt N.Weald as there are HAS's in the b/ground. Looks more like Alconbury. Y're right about its loss tho'. At Biggin if memory serves. Keep up the good work!

Vulcan & Blackbird Pic Air Fete '82

Whilst browsing an old CD for a particular Aardvark pic I chanced upon this rarity from Air Fete '82 of a Vulcan & Blackbird in the same frame - something I don't recall ever seeing apart from this occasion. I do recall it being an exceptional Vulcan display as it incorporated a barrel roll, positiv...

Victors Ludorum

Having posted a set of Vulcan pics recently I decided to review my collection of Victor pics for a post to commemorate the anniversary of the arrival of XL231 Lusty Lindy @ the Yorkshire Air Museum next month. Whilst the Vulcan had a positively primeval appearance (resembling a Pterodactyl more than...
