Re: Just a few, just for you

Morning Patrick. In a word - nice! Esp Caroline the Gulf War Bucc (shame no close - up of the politically incorrect nose - art) and the 1st Vark shot which is a belter.

Re: More memories

Nice eclectic mix. Particularly liking the Ohio ANG A-7 and the anonymous Rhino lacking tail code. Any idea what unit?

You certainly tested the limits of that basic camera. Excellent set of a Greenham Common even earlier than my first.

Re: Southport Airshow Sunday Show 2019

Nice set and good to see a shot of the last ever Tucano display. Seems like Linton have pushed the boat out with the badges.

Certainly prior to the opening of the American Museum which is where that B-17 Mary Alice (?) now resides.

Re: Abingdon Battle of Britain Show Mass Fly Pasts

Content over quality for me every time. I was there and can honestly say that these capture the event very well. I esp. like nos. 2 + 5 which show a series of formations. There will never again be a flypast on that scale as we no longer have the variety of a/c types or in such numbers.

80s Finningley Programmes Wanted

Probably a long shot but I am wanting the Finnningley progs for 1980, '83 + '84 to complete the set so if anyone has one of these which they would like to convert to cash pl. message me as I'm willing to pay a decent price. If you have seen my post of the '84 show and wondering why I need that progr...

Finningley At Home '84 - After the Vulcan

I was going to call Time on the Finningley coverage after the last post but as there are fans of Wilf Hardy's artwork out there I could nt resist incl. his poster for the '84 show which I consider one of his best as he has captured the Lightning to perfection. Topping the bill was the jet car Thrust...

Nice ones John - and all the more atmospheric in b&w. Were nt we lucky back then to have so many good shows on our doorstep - almost literally for me with Ch. Fenton!

Thanks F3 for the additional input, as a point of note the Canberra B.2(Mod) WV787 has been on display inside Hangar 2 since 2005!
Just shows how long it is since my last visit. High time I returned now that I'm less than an hour up the road.

Re: Finningley At Home '82 - Falklands Fall out

Wilf Hardy must have painted hundreds of airshow posters and I can't recall a single bad one, altho' some were better (and more accurate in terms of depicting a show's content) than others. I'd happily have the best examples framed on my wall (wife permitting of course). Am sure they will be very c...

Re: Newark Air Museum Aircraft 26/08/19

Good coverage of one of the very best Air Museums. I'm pleased to see that Cranberry WV787 is now indoors as it is a unique a/c. Most of the airframes appear in good order and are a credit to the place. Next time y're in the area check out the SYAM @Doncaster which is a must if you like Canberras.

Re: Finningley At Home '82 - Falklands Fall out

If I recall correctly, wasn't XH558 one of the four converted  You are correct Paddy, XH558 was converted to a tanker. I think 6 were converted in the end, although not 100% sure on that. Great selection of photos here. I also like the inclusion of the Wilfred Hardy poster for the event. Hi...

Finningley At Home '82 - Falklands Fall out

Altho' we had nt expected to see anymore Vulcans, as they should have all been retired a few remained in service as a result of the Falklands War and indeed a new variant had been developed as a single point tanker which would remain in service for a couple of years, pending the introduction of the ...

Re: RAF St Mawgan and others

Nice set Andy. 1st time I've seen any St.Mawgan pics posted. Don't want to seem pedantic but the Tornado is actually an F3. You'll appreciate I'm sensitive about people getting my namesake right. That Spanish P-3 is a bit of a rarity. Look forward to yr next post as these are quality. These might i...

V. nice set, esp the Strikemasters. They seem to have been everywhere this year but I suppose show organisers don't have much choice since all the Hunters were grounded.

Re: Finningley At Home '81 (Inc Last Vulcan Scramble)

An ATC camp in 1963 was 'up the road' at Leconfield. Ok - It was littered with 19Sq & 92Sq's new Lightning F.2s, so I was in heaven, but parked at the end of the runway were 4 all-white Vulcans. They did a practice Scramble at some point during the week which made a bit of a mess of our squad's mar...
