Re: Marham fleet F35 Sightings - 2022 > 2024
There's only 13 more officially on order as it stands and due to be delivered before end of 2025, but again this is fully dependent on Tech Refresh 3. Secondary to that, the F-35 has been cleared for full rate production. https://www.defensenews.com/air/2024/03/13/pentagon-clears-f-35-for-full-rate-...

Re: Construction Status of RAF Marham
Hangar 1 has also been demolished. https://www.raf.mod.uk/our-organisation/stations/raf-marham/news/raf-marham-hangar-removed-in-preparation-for-future-construction-works/ "to support Project Anvil 2" (more buildings to support the F-35B) - does anyone know more specifically what is being built on t...

Re: Construction Status of RAF Marham
Apparently there has been new construction on the North side. I haven't been to Marham in many years. Can anyone shed any light on what has been built? Are there new shelters being built? Depends on how many years? The main construction for the F-35B so far is on the south side nearest the A1122, w...

Re: Marham fleet F35 Sightings - 2022/23
Believe both ZM168 and ZM169 were indeed delivered to Edwards for 17 squadron, which means it's likely 2 of ZM135, ZM136 or ZM138 will make their way to Marham once they have had all the orange wiring removed. Further deliveries slightly hampered by TR-3 so don't expect any more deliveries any time ...

Re: Will Sunak Survive Until The Election
I for one am grateful for gaining a blue passport which we could have had anyway. I am thankful for this country reducing long-run productivity by 4%. I am thankful for exports and imports being reduced by 15%. I am thankful for knowing new trade deals with non-EU countries will not have any materia...

Re: Will Sunak Survive Until The Election
One area you do look to improve under the Tories is defence, as I don’t think many trust Labour on that front, but then again, after years of conservative government can we really say our armed forces are well equipped and in good shape? Defence spending between 1997 and 2024 has averaged 2.4% GDP....

Re: Will Sunak Survive Until The Election
The Conservatives have failed under almost every single metric going since they assumed overall power in 2015, with the mixed-bag from 2010-15 being terrible for many under austerity. Those decreeing "Labour will bankrupt the country!" or "Labour can't be trusted!" need to actually sit and read the ...

Re: 809 NAS reformed
Ok here we go. Who remembers callsigns used by 809 Squadron? I guess Immortal is one if them? 😊 Just a wild guess; If you have a copy of the video 'Sailor' from the 1970's, you might be able to glean a few callsigns from the flying footage? Image comes to mind of a Bucc 'bolting' many times on the ...

Would love a small Omega symbol painted on there, even if in grey.

Thank you very much, appreciate that.FlyingFairy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 10:23 amRubyRoo,
As you suggest, aircraft crash matting was placed on the grass, then the aircraft were slowly towed across it . The moves occurred in early February this year.

How were the E-3s taken to that part of the airfield?
Were they dragged over the grass like so?

ZM168 and ZM169 may also be replacing ZM135 and ZM136 at Edwards. We know ZM136 has gone to have it's orange wiring removed at least.
Will just have to wait and see when the next batch arrives, whenever that may be

ZM169 has now flown.
ZM170 and ZM171 are due this year but unlikely until 2024 due to ongoing delivery problems.

Re: AFM - UK Defence Select Committee Report Article
What I find hard to understand is that time after time equipment seems to be withdrawn or retired BEFORE there's a direct replacement in service (or at least up to an adequate strength)? Take the Nimrod to Poseidon, E-3 & Sentinel to RC135, Harrier & Tornado to F-35, Tristar & VC10 to Voyager, C-13...

Re: AFM - UK Defence Select Committee Report Article
For a long time the plan hasn't been to have 138 in service at the same time. The plan is now to buy 138 over the lifetime of the 'project' which could easily be 30 years. The 'plan' is to have enough jets for peacetime deployments of 12 (ish), with a wartime complement of 24-32 ish plus sufficient...

What was their angle in terms of F-35As to supplement numbers?
That rumour has been doing the rounds for years but makes no sense to me and I can't believe it holds any truth.
