Re: Construction work

Google Earth? I'm afraid not. Google Earth satellite imagery updates are sporadic I'm afraid. You'll find much more frequent satellite image updates posted here: https://eos.com/landviewer/?lat=52.47860&lng=1.08215&z=9 With a free account you'll be able to see up to 10 low resolution images, but be...

Re: Construction work

Jason, there is some satellite imagery available online dated from last week, however the resolution for now is not really ample enough to provide a clear image of the finished works.

If and when something better becomes available, I will post a link/screenshots here.

Re: Marham Ascot 9711 Flight 16-7-19

Blasphemy to some, but I have to say I think they look tremendously smart with the lightning flash and codes. It's not quite the squadron markings that we all hope for, but it's something. If they can do this, then it bodes well for further markings in the future, even if they aren't as colourful as...

28/02/2019 - RAF Marham

Does anyone have the serials for the 2 F-35's that departed around 16:30 after the Tornado event?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Current RAF aircraft

Hi Rugby. I appreciate all of your posts on aviation related matters but when it comes to the political ones, they aren't so good unfortunately. Agent K has already correctly tried to steer you to the actual facts of the matter. Regardless of whether you believe or don't believe we will be better of...

Re: Current RAF aircraft

Tony, please don't try and state facts at these people. They don't listen.

I don't wish for threads to become political, but anyone who seriously expects there to be money available if the United Kingdom leaves with no deal is beyond logic.

Cranfield Lightning

Does anyone know the current status of the Lightning at Cranfield?

I know they have run fast taxi runs in the past. Is it now a permanent non-mover?

Re: F-35 Batch 3 Arrival

What makes you think any of this batch must be for 617 squadron? It sounds to me more like these aircraft will all be for 207 squadron. I don't think that. Had you read properly I'm sure you would have gathered that, too. I would imagine all of the aircraft transiting over will be for 207 as well.

Re: F-35 Batch 3 Arrival

For the life of me I can't remember where I read this, but supposedly another batch is due in June/July of this year. Further to this, the OC of 207 squadron has posted this on Twitter. https://twitter.com/OC207Sqn/status/1129027330490413056 So another batch is due sometime this Summer. Numbers to ...

F-16 Deployment

All rumours and hearsay at the moment, but... Unconfirmed reports came to our desk this evening. It is said that "FM" coded F-16C/Ds of Homestead/Regional-ARS (FL) will deploy to RAF Lakenheath (UK) on 3 May 2019. That means that the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) 482nd Fighter Wing, 93rd Fighter ...

Re: USAF to buy more Eagles

The article states that the new F-15X will work with both the F-22 and F-35, more or less acting as it’s missile truck. So the Lakenheath E’s could go back Stateside or The Far East and be replaced with the X’s, making Lakenheath a F-15X/F-35A base. With the current Russia situation the US may be l...

Re: USAF to buy more Eagles

No chance at all they will come to Lakenheath. Long term future will be the 2 F-35 and 2 F-15 squadrons, and when the 2 F-15 squadron's time is up, I suspect they won't be replaced with anything and it'll just be the 2 F-35 squadrons remaining.

Re: New bases?

At the risk of tipping out a can of worms, the comment by the minister about new bases was in the context of leaving the EU releasing funds for us to become a big power on the world stage. Why would we need a Caribbean base anyway? What threat would that deal with? It wouldn't deal with any threat....

Re: Tornado last flights

It is the end of March, Unknown74.

They're likely to end flying a bit sooner than that though. Once the Tornados fully return from operations, there's little need for them to hang around any longer other than delivering the aircraft to their final resting places at various museums etc.

Re: Thank you Marham.

I didn't go to the event, but I hope someone from RAF Marham does read this thread. In the past, they've been criticised for some of their public events, but this time they went over and above to give everything to the enthusiast and that should be commended.
