Re: Departure day

I am on the wait list too, but if worst comes to worst, how early are we talking to show up on the day?

Are there any unofficial spots open for departures?

Thanks all.

Re: Alleged UFO or UAP, 1990, Calvine, Scotland

I was posting about this on reddit and my initial thought was a hunter. In this version of the photo it almost looks like an F-4 to me. My first thought when I saw this photo was an F-4. Can anybody remember if they were still on QRA duties in 1990? Not sure if the Tornado had taken over by then?

Re: FRIAT Mach 3 Park and View Options

Those areas are known as "park and view". Just follow the yellow "Park and View" road signs to get to them. You definitely need to be early to grab a good spot in the eastern park and view! Thinking of doing P&V for the first time on Monday. How early is "early" to get a decent spot in east please?

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

The prices reflect on the RIAT management kicking the american caterers out of there base, was another knife to the american base charities , Rob I can't personally recall there being American caterers (I would've been at front of queue) but understand it was commonplace back in the day. With strin...

Here - https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=6892961724052164&set=gm.10158481436396962 That's the one. If it was real, it would have been all over the Lakenheath/Mildenhall spotter pages when it arrived and departed. Assuming it hasn't snuck in under the cover of darkness - but the photos appear to s...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

I don’t want to get peoples hopes up and this is probably someone trolling. But this was posted on a community page yesterday. https://www.facebook.com/groups/3234477579962373/permalink/5216644501745661/ I’m not a member of the group so I can’t see. Is it the post about the F117? If so we’re a bit ...

OK, so not squadron markings as such but someone at Coningsby has a sense of humour. https://live.staticflickr.com/7862/47128502682_e36e968127.jpg RAF Coningsby 10 June 2015 by Peter Jackson , on Flickr I must be missing something; all I can see on the jet is 29 squadron's usual "Triplex" ...

Re: RAF Typhoon Squadron markings

I am of the opinion that squadron markings are great for the old "esprit de corps" and it is quite sad to see it come to this.

RAF Typhoon Squadron markings

Apologies if this has been asked to death - I could only find a topic from a few years back that vaguely touched upon this, but: I recall reading a good while back that the RAF were sadly scrapping Typhoon squadron markings, something to do with the fact that airframes are pooled between squadrons a...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread

I don’t think we’re far from an update of: Soiled Nappy (F) And everyone would be saying “great update well done DBH” The Blades (whilst certainly made up of superb pilots) are a country fair/village fetes act Certainly, my comments will draw those out for whom RIAT can do no wrong but, thankfully,...
