Sad to hear this, he was certainly a one-off. I recall his incredible arrival at Boscombe in 92 Blue skies bud

Interesting, I've seen that nose art on a B-29 in a museum, somewhere in the US (can't think off hand)

Great set of images Keith, I certainly felt like crying that day - bl**dy camera croaked on me , expensive lesson, always carried two bodies after that bitter experience.

Great set of images :thumb: (how did you manage to get over the other side? :O ). Apart from the Gulf War Veterans, the East German Coke was the other star of the show. It was an excellent day out in spite of the rain, I remember us being caught up in the massive deluge on the way down, and having t...

Cheers guys Sadly because of the 'post Ramstein clampdown' imposed that year, there was no West German participation.

Re: TTTE
I never realised until late that you could actually access the end of the runway at Cottesmore via a (hidden) footpath. Fortunately I managed to get there in the end, before the Harriers were axed. Thanks for the feedback guys, I've been meaning to do this one for ages. More to come...

Afterwards we headed over to Coningsby to see the locals and the JaBo-31 deployment, and were delighted to catch a visiting 43 Sqn Phantom taxiing out (my last one); https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53628191271_0d0381884c_o.jpg 2301 by Mark Lewis , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53...

A few souvenirs from those heady days, to get a beer from the Germans, you had to purchase a tankard from them

Was a really good day out, despite frequency of the showers. I remember undergoing the many security checks before we were allowed onto the base.

Re: TTTE
Cheers guys :thumb: The wonderful thing about Cottesmore were the diversity of visitors that frequented the base, especially F-104G's, I used to read the reports about them in BARG. Unfortunately (for me personally) it never seemed to happen whenever I visited - luck of the draw I guess. I certainly...
