Re: RAF Cranwell 04/11/2020

You've got some great shots in that lovely Autumn Sunlight. I wish those Texans could be marked up in their 72 squadron colours, they would look so much better with the colour bars on their roundels (like the Tucano's were marked). :) Hi Roughcutter, I know what you mean wouldn't it be great if the...

Re: Aviation Books to read

Just finished reading " A Higher Call ". I like to read personal accounts from people who have been involved in conflicts. The book tells the story of a luftwaffe ace and a B-17 pilot who had an unusual meeting over Germany which affected them for the rest of their lives. Also gives a insight into ...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2021 - Tickets on sale

I'm not holding my breath anymore. Even (if) we see the back of Covid, there's bound to be a serious knock-on effect to the airshow industry in general. With the exception of established venues like Old Warden I fear that we may have seen the last of some of the regular favourite shows :(

Re: IWM axes flying legends for good.

I'm sure there's bound to be a quiet airfield out there where Legends can be staged? How about Sywell in Northants or Elvingdon in North Yorks?

The 512 TRS is German Air Force... MDD RF-4E, 2nd Squadron, TRW 51, Bremgarten AB. Or in German... Aufklärungsgeschwader (AG) 51.

Hope this helps...
Cheers, my first impression was that it was USAF :)

I'm curious about the 512th TRS patch you've got listed there (USAF exchange?)

Brilliant set of shots and in a great setting too, not something you'd see everyday. Right place right time :thumb: I read in Flypast recently that 'Miss Pick Up' was soon due to fly out to Italy - Lake Como (Lombardy), don't know whether it's going to be based there or an airshow event?

Admittedly I didn't actually attend this Warbird Show it was too far away for me at the time, but I remember the (then new) Flypast Magazine's big feature on the event. It's a long shot but perhaps maybe Key Publishing might have it in their archives?

Classic types working very well in monochrome.

Nimrod pilot to co-pilot: "Honk the horn again I don't think he can hear us above the bagpipes!"
Don't stand too close to those intakes wearing a kilt, wonder if the pilot got a good look
