Howdo, NJM.
Someone in Heads Up, only one, has seen summat on MSF, whatever that is, they could be here until the 15th July.
Bummer! I was quietly hoping that a couple would stick around for RIAT :(

Re: Indian Thunderbolts, November 1990

Peter what an absolutely stonking post, you lucky, lucky man. To have travelled so far the way you have, and gained such exclusive access to these amazing places. All of those aircraft that you've photographed have been worked to death, and will have a lot of interesting stories to tell. They are re...

Re: Hemet-Ryan California CalFire Air Attack Base 14.4.25

With Nick's very kind permission I've added a few scans of my own, to give a flavour of the place 30 years ago, taken from a Globemaster US trip on October 97. All shot on Fujichrome Sensia with a battered old Pentax K1000. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53943122445_65b5df15e8_b.jpg Ryan 0202 b...

Great post :thumb: I visted Ryan in 1997, it's a really lovely airfield. Good to see little has changed there.

You were certainly well rewarded for your endurance, they're a cracking set of images, especially the Noratlas . Thanks for sharing them. :thumb:

Re: Yet more from the eighties...

Another triumph Freddie :thumb: No matter where you went in those times, it was virtually guaranteed that something interesting at some point in the day would show up. More often than not (in my case), it was usually at the end of the day, after I'd left for home

Re: Lipetsk 17th of August 2005. Picture heavy.

Who did you travel with? It was an APC (Aviation Photo Club - the precursor of COAP,) tour of the Moscow area. Base visits included Ivanovo, Ryazan and the Chernoye Mil Mi-2, Mil Mi-8 and Antonov An-2 repair and restoration facility. We also visited the museum at Monino and spent two days at Zhukov...

Re: Russian aircraft drone attack

While I take my hat off to the Ukrainians for their initiative and daring in pulling off this successful mission, let's not forget that it is also a two edged sword. I can remember an incident back in the 1990's (during the troubles), when John Major and some of his cabinet were 'mortered' at 10 Dow...
