Re: NOTAM 13/07/20

Not meaning to nit pick vulcan but having just watched my video of the whole event it wasn't exactly how you described it. For example, there were no overshoots. You're overshoots were the U-2 positioning high in the circuit at "Hi Key" carrying out a procedure for a practise precautionary landing r...

Re: Greenham Common 07/07/1973

Some great memory jerkers there - enjoyed those Greenham Tattoos far more than Fairford ones. Going back to 1961/62 I can remember the parking areas by the Tower being packed out with B-47's so close to the fence you could read them off with the MK.1 eyeball.

Re: 68-10337 U-2S aka Triggers Broom

68-10337 was the last U-2R to serve with Det 4 at Mildenhall - deployed there June'81 to Feb'83. On the 6 Dec'82 it made an emergency landing at Alconbury which resulted in it going off the end of the runway and night stopping in a field at Owl End. Sustaining only minor damage it returned to Milden...

Typhoon ZJ950 showing as on final R09 at Fairford on ADSB?
Looks like it was a low pass R09 - now departed North. Didn't appear to land based on ADSB.
It was a fast low pass at 1349/50.

nice shots, I see the first pic has the B_47 with JATO bottles attached, Thanks for sharing All B/EB-47's on alert were fitted with external RATO. This consisted of a horse collar frame to which up 33 rocket bottles were attached giving an instant 33,000 lbs of thrust when fired. Without RATO a com...

Nothing in 'BAR' for that date (several other visitors were noted at the base that day), nor any Maine ANG a/c at Alconbury during August. There was a KC-135E on 15/8: 91484 (bk/w), but that is recorded as a Penn ANG machine. The only Maine ANG a/c recorded at USAFE bases in August was KC-135E 7150...

Filmed/video'd H-6's and MH-60's being off/on loaded on C-5's at Fairford twice before. Once in the late 80's and again in 1998. Forgotten the unit though. That is the deployment I remember ... four MH-60K and four MH-6H arrived on 02/09/98. 'BAR' reports that 4 AH/MH-6s and seven UH-60As arrived a...

A couple of B-47 shots at Fairford from a local Facebook page, supposedly taken in September 1962.
The top one already has the '0-' (zero-dash) before the rest of the serial indicating 'over 10 years old'
Since it's a 1953 serial, that suggests it was taken after 1963?
