Re: Finningley Assortment
Thanks for your comments. Thought they maybe appreciated. To respond to the questions raised:- Graf Zeppelin - definitely IIIs as would nt have used as much film on Vs which were Finningley regulars. These were IIIs from EC 3/3 Ardennes. I have a side view of one of them parked somewhere. Ferrari -...

Graf Zeppelin: Captain Tom, 'Nam, Utes and Lakehurst
The saying goes: "There are old pilots and bold pilots but there are no old, bold pilots..." One of Phil's friends - now sadly no longer with us - was Tom Casagrande, a retired US Army pilot who certainly fits into the latter category... Tom made it through 2 tours in Vietnam - the first starting in...

A Day in Graf Zeppelin's Life... 4 May 1976
Life as a spotter 'back in the day' was a bit more exciting and varied than it is now. Phil's logbook records numerous weekly trips to East Anglia, and Mildenhall and Lakenheath especially to see what visiting traffic was visible from the outside. Sometimes, it was even possible to get on base and g...

Graf Zeppelin Returns - Keflavik 1973
I couldn't resist Phil's nagging any longer, so here is the first of a new batch of his slides. THese were taken at a very, very soggy Keflavik on 15 August 1973. Further selections will be posted as my real work permits... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49918539448_9916e94075_o.jpg 156527/LQ-4...

Re: RE: F-35B Lightning Fleet List 2018 - construction numbers and locations
Not strictly true. The RAF designation is the "F-35B Lightning". As its the third aircraft to bear the name, it seemed a bit daft to include the "II".the type is Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II - no UK designation.

Hello, boys, I'm b-a-a-a-c-k!! After a bit of pestering and cajoling from His Nibs, here are some more aircraft in various states of repair. 2 August 1974 Vampire T.1 7203M / TG349 at Baldock https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1726/41602218375_36726fa77e_b.jpg 23 July 1975 Some properly broken aircraft,...

32 Squadron Joins the RAF100 Tail Party
Quite literally hot off the press, here's a perfectly pleasant image of ZE700 revealing the Home Team's version of the oh-so-awesome RAF100 tail. Given the criticism of the logo design, I suppose putting this in the "Show Us Your Worst" Thread might have been more appropriate but I'd like to think t...

Re: nellis open house
Thank you for the info John. How much do you think a taxi ride would cost from stratosphere to the speedway? How far is nellis from the strip? If I stayed at the said hotel for 3-4 nights how much would the resort fee be? Wonderful tool, the internet when you've got 7 minutes to spare... taxifarefi...

Re: Davis Monthan Coach Tour - Is It Worth It?
Why shouldn't it be?Is the question serious!?
Did AMARC (as it was then) in 2000 and was lucky enough to have pretty-much a free-reign on where we stopped for photos. Maybe that experience has clouded my judgement?
Or I might just be getting fussy in my old age...

Davis Monthan Coach Tour - Is It Worth It?
Just a quick question - has anybody done the DM coach tour from Pima recently?
Have got the overflight already sorted but is the tour worth it?
I understand the bus stops at three or four points and you're not allowed to de-bus?

Re: 232 OCU VICTORS-VALIANTS RAF GAYDON 1960-1963
Depending on your spare time and location, have you thought about visiting the National Archives to view 232OCU's Operational Record Books (the RAF Form 540s). The Bomber Command unit are usually quite good at listing their aircraft by serial in these books. If you can't make it down, you can reques...

Re: Ealing Council propose closure of RAF Northolt
Funny this...
There must be another RAF Northolt which is actually located in Ealing!
And don't believe everything you see in black and white from local rags with new editors who belie the trust offered during visits to either one of the Northolt's...
