Re: RE: F-35B Lightning Fleet List 2018 - construction numbers and locations

the type is Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II - no UK designation.
Not strictly true. The RAF designation is the "F-35B Lightning". As its the third aircraft to bear the name, it seemed a bit daft to include the "II".

Re: Graf Zeppelin's Guide to Wrecks & Relics - Pts. 1 to 3

Hello, boys, I'm b-a-a-a-c-k!! After a bit of pestering and cajoling from His Nibs, here are some more aircraft in various states of repair. 2 August 1974 Vampire T.1 7203M / TG349 at Baldock https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1726/41602218375_36726fa77e_b.jpg 23 July 1975 Some properly broken aircraft,...

32 Squadron Joins the RAF100 Tail Party

Quite literally hot off the press, here's a perfectly pleasant image of ZE700 revealing the Home Team's version of the oh-so-awesome RAF100 tail. Given the criticism of the logo design, I suppose putting this in the "Show Us Your Worst" Thread might have been more appropriate but I'd like to think t...

Hi there, Only just seen this (as was looking into this event) and must say these are some absolutely stunning shots!! Awesome :D I was wondering if you can help me. I’d love to go on their nightshoot(s) this year. Do you know how these are normally setup and released to public? Feel free to PM. Th...

Re: nellis open house

Thank you for the info John. How much do you think a taxi ride would cost from stratosphere to the speedway? How far is nellis from the strip? If I stayed at the said hotel for 3-4 nights how much would the resort fee be? Wonderful tool, the internet when you've got 7 minutes to spare... taxifarefi...

Re: Davis Monthan Coach Tour - Is It Worth It?

Is the question serious!?
Why shouldn't it be?

Did AMARC (as it was then) in 2000 and was lucky enough to have pretty-much a free-reign on where we stopped for photos. Maybe that experience has clouded my judgement?

Or I might just be getting fussy in my old age...

Davis Monthan Coach Tour - Is It Worth It?

Just a quick question - has anybody done the DM coach tour from Pima recently?

Have got the overflight already sorted but is the tour worth it?

I understand the bus stops at three or four points and you're not allowed to de-bus?

Re: 232 OCU VICTORS-VALIANTS RAF GAYDON 1960-1963

Depending on your spare time and location, have you thought about visiting the National Archives to view 232OCU's Operational Record Books (the RAF Form 540s). The Bomber Command unit are usually quite good at listing their aircraft by serial in these books. If you can't make it down, you can reques...

Re: Ealing Council propose closure of RAF Northolt

Funny this...

There must be another RAF Northolt which is actually located in Ealing!

And don't believe everything you see in black and white from local rags with new editors who belie the trust offered during visits to either one of the Northolt's...

Pretty low I would have thought. Would it not have been announced at the same time if something smaller was tagging along?

Re: Duxford's Naughty Field

If the two hundred are standing close together there would be a higher risk but if they were say, one person per ten square metres, the risk would be reduced. How does that work? Two hundred people at 10m apart covers a far greater area, thus creating a far greater risk to life. Unless, of course, ...

Or indeed jobs worth IWM staff will not allow people to pay on the gate :@
Maybe that's more to do with insurance for the events rather than staff attitudes, as per Fairford?

Along with the various lumps of exotica Phil has photographed on his travels, he also caught a large number of aircraft in various states of disrepair at various locations.
