I have a feeling that Gen Horrocks was no longer with us by then, having died in 1985.

During the Cold War, General Horrocks wrote a book titled 'World War 3'. In it he predicted that it would start in the Middle East. Looks like he wasn't wrong!

Historically ASCOT stood for Air Support Command Operational Transport, it would therefore follow that the civvy was on charter to the RAF and flown by an RAF crew on a military mission.

According to my records, this is based in Russia : should it have been impounded?
It looks as if nearly half of the M Jet fleet is based at Moscow Vnukovo as are many other 'innocent' looking business jets.

I wonder how long before they have to rotate home for servicing, perhaps they will replace them or maybe continue the deployment with a TDY rotation until things out east settle down?
