Re: Fat Albert and friends at Cambridge 7th July 2020

Thanks for posting the pics, they brought back memories of when I had a flight deck ride with Albert during the Reno Air Races airshow, I even had a JATO as well. :)

Re: Notam 26 06 20

Do the pogo wheels on the U2 usually drop off before V1? I was thinking that the chase car which follows The Dragon Lady on it's take off roll must communicate to the pilot that both wheels have departed the aircraft. Should 1 wheel not fall off would the pilot have time to abort take off? I am awar...

Re: Typhoon low level over Mountsorrel, Leics 11/03/20

I am not sure if there is a connection here, a bit of a coincidence if not. This morning a yellow T-6 Harvard was doing circuits over Mountsorrel and Rothley just like the Typhoon was in March, but not quite as fast. :)

I assume it was these two which flew over Leicester yesterday morning probably around 1115am in a SE to NW direction.

Re: Holbeach AWR log April 2020

Is RAF Holbeach Range a shadow of it's former self these days, I remember the days when aircraft tried for a bootleg slot when the range was busy.
FWIW I have had some good times at ranges in the USA, but that also was a few years ago. :)

Re: Oh how I miss Cottesmore and the TTTE

Great set of images, COT used to have some nice visitors as well. One of the first I saw was a Luftwaffe Dornier taxying down the far taxiway, i thought it was WW2 stuff. :) Families day was very good as well. I did have a sad day there when the GR1 that had the mid air over North Nottinghamshire de...

Re: MCAS Yuma Oct 2019

Fabulous collection Kevin, about 18 years since I visited Yuma, but a great place to go in the winter. :)

I used to also go to the Barry Goldwater ranges near to Gila Bend, the staff were always very helpful, especially up the range tower when the A-10's were around. :)

Re: Typhoon low level over Mountsorrel, Leics 11/03/20

Nick, I was at Rothley station and it also gave me a good show. I am guessing that a friend or relative lives in the area, and the pilot decided to 'Buzz the tower', with East Mids ATC approval of course. :) Many years ago I got a C-130 to come low level over Rothley as part of it's low level naviga...

Re: Why RAF Boscombe Down?

That may be, but the media are naming the airfield as RAF Boscombe Down, perhaps now you can answer my original question, why is the flight landing at MOD Boscombe Down then?

Why RAF Boscombe Down?

For the Coronavirus flight from Japan, why is it going to Boscombe Down? Is it because it is near to Porton Down?
It is then a very long coach journey for the passengers/patients to The Wirral.

Re: Autumn in SoCal

Thanks for posting kevin El Centro is my favourite base,it is particularly good at this time of the year as The Blue Angels use EC for winter training.
I was fortunate to be there once when a Carrier Air Wing was there, F-14s, E-2s, Intruders etc etc

I enjoyed the first programme, just a pity the RAF could not supply all the necessary support aircraft, many thanks RDAF.
