Re: Russia Ukraine: Moscow lists demands for defusing Ukraine tensions

What bothers me, is that Russia has issued a list of demands, several of which are not going to be accepted by Ukraine or NATO...
In 1914, Austria Hungary issued a list of demands to Serbia, after Sarajevo, which they knew were not going to be accepted...we know the rest...

Re: Complaints from Gwynedd residents soar about RAF Texan

I was based at Valley for 2 years in the 80s, and the locals ALWAYS moaned about noise.
They were still moaning when the Hawk T2 came into service, claiming it was noisier than the T1s...
Those new double/treble glazed windows dont pay for themselves...

Re: Does the RAF F35 have a gun?

But can any Air Force afford to put such an expensive aircraft in harm's way by using it for close air support? The "boots on the ground" want something to strafe the living daylights out of the bad guys with a cannon, not hi tech missiles..RAF Harrier GR5/7/9s didn't have a usable gun at all, whic...

Re: RIAT 2016 your views

I went on Saturday, loved the F22, (never seen it before!) was underwhelmed by the F35, except the hovering bit...yes lots of F16 and Typhoon displays, but then its the noise and speed that I go for! Special mentions for the Gripen, Rafale, and F18, all good routines, the Frecce and the Reds were as...

Re: Duxford's Naughty Field

No it won't be stopped.. there will be threats, abuse, cajoling, name calling. But they won't dare stop it.... as another poster said, way too much money involved! If they do try and stop it, Duxford will get sued by all the traders who pay a lot of money to be there, plus a lot of paying public wil...

Re: Duxford's Naughty Field

I cannot see the local boys in blue having the resources to police any naughty field occupants! As for the "why don't people just do as they are told" ....where have you been living for the past 30 years? People these days think have they have the God given right to do whatever they please, whenever...

Re: New safety statement

Who is going to bother going, given the tiny area to display in, and so far from the (paying) crowds?

I was at Paris last year, and it was a dead loss.. I cannot see that FI 2016 is going to be any different!

How quickly things have changed, even before Shoreham!

Re: Upgrading Canon body - suggestions

Another vote for a 7D mk 1 from me... I have had mine since July, and its worth every penny I paid for it. Compact Flash cards are not too expensive, you should be able to get a good (S....sk) 16Gb card for under £25, even in RAW, thats over 500 pics! A cheap reader is under a fiver, and a good (USB...

Re: HMS Prince of Wales

2 carriers for a projected 48 aircraft?

now that is a waste!

Why don't they stick some cats and traps on them, and buy a couple of squadrons of F18s (or Rafales)?

Or would they get in the way, during the endless cocktail parties?

Re: DTV Airshow cancelled due to Shoreham accident

Nice to see some airshows going ahead... But what of the future? Are we just going to see some "classic jets" doing a fly by, possibly with a wing waggle at each end? What (or who) defines a "classic jet"? could we have a situation where the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight (for instance) be able t...

However, if you are a bit imited on funds, the 7D mk1 is a bargain at the moment.. I picked up one 2 weeks ago for £439 from MPB. Shutter count only 6700, its like new...

Paris Air Show 2015

With only a month to go, anyone going?

Any news on likely exhibits? (with all the Rafale sales, I expect more than one display by them!)

No chance of a SU-35 display this time :(

Will the USA decide to turn up instead? (F-35?)

Love the first Viggen one! really show the sheer power of this iconic Swedish fighter!

I was a bit further down the flightline, and couldn't get one like that!

Re: Is it just me?...

I haven't been to Yeovilton Air day for some years, but after Waddington and RIAT, this was a very poor 3rd! We were in situ just in time for the Flying programme, (after the 1045 rewrite!), but noticed the hordes starting to leave after XH558 had landed... If it wasn't for the relentless heat, (not...

Re: F-35 coming to RIAT / Farnborough

Could it be its just a sign of the times? I am sure we would all like to see some USAF F16s, F15s, B1bs, USN F18s etc...but Uncle Sam isnt playing ball any more... Its a shame that the Swedish Historic flight couldnt be persuaded to stay over another week, they were the stars of the show for me at W...
