For what purpose?
It would be nice to look at it. Even better if it made a flyby.

Re: Red Arrows RAF Scampton air base to be sold off

Hi Colinthecaterpillar, Point taken, you should know. The empty slot of a couple of hours could have been filled given planning. In my option. Having said that, the down time due to poor weather probably meant that the Reds wanted some flexibility. Idle speculation by someone Not in the know😀 Witter...

Re: Red Arrows RAF Scampton air base to be sold off

Drinkmat In the last eleven years of winter training the time between the morning and afternoon sorties has regularly been filled with KingAirs from RAF Cranwell doing circuit work, asymmetric approaches, occasional helicopter drop ins. It was quite useful for practicing photography on something slow

Re: Receiving notifications and updates from Forums

One or two suggestions that might be helpful in addition to the comments above.

Look out the windows; carry a scanner with you at all times and perhaps involve your immediate family, I'm sure that your Mum would be happy to help.

You only get out, what you put in ;)

Re: Scampton to close

There is nothing like resurrecting an old thread :) Two people, miles apart gave out this combined comment today. Scampton to close in 2020; RAFAT to move out prior to Winter training, 2019-2020. Wittering as new base, using the airspace over Kendrew Barracks. Stranger things have happened. Please d...

Re: Tornado farewell flypast February 2019

Thunder They missed the RAF Cottesmore 22 runway by 6-800m. Perhaps they were shy? Cup half full? EDIT. It should be interesting to see how close to the RAF College the nine ship will manage next week. Should be ok, there are several working days for charging up the TomToms ;) No-one's perfect but w...

Re: Tornado farewell flypast February 2019

Hello scramble_al70 Are you really planning to leave warm, sunny Italy and travel to the UK? I thought that I was daft, planning a sixty mile trip to see nine aircraft whiz past, then disappear into the dark cloud😪. As I understand the published plan, 9 will just fly through, possibly somewhere clos...

I think it might be a 2 ship now. Saw three take off from Marham, and coming home past Stowbridge I saw a lone Tonka heading back to Marham. :(

 probably lost its way over Kendrew Barracks. ;)

Re: Recent A-10's

Thank you for these.
Takes me back to the late '80s in the English Fens. Farmers were allowed to burn straw after harvesting the grain. There would be tall columns of grey smoke rising in a big wide sky. A-10s would 'attack' the base of the columns. No camera in those days :( Good memories :)
