Re: Red Arrows 60th Diamond Season

I wonder if some enthusiasts from other countries see their teams the same way. I mean the frecce, for instance, has had the same display for years, but as we see them about once a year (if that) we don’t complain. Is it familiarity breeding contempt? Would those who don’t see the red arrows as ofte...

Re: Red Arrows in Turmoil ?

From the outside looking in, this team feels different - the training seems to advance quicker - let's hope the 'toxic pockets' have been broken up and 2024 is a good scandal free season. Fingers crossed. I don’t think there are any pilots left that were there when this sordid business started. Can...

Re: Red Arrows in Turmoil ?

Just wondering, a while back the Reds had a female pilot who left the squadron. Why was this?, can anyone remember. Been a male (pilot) display team, its time to include female pilots in the displays again. All this talk gives the ammunition to the should the Red Arrows be disbanded people, not onl...

Re: Honington is an airfield again!

Interesting that they have chosen Honington for a glider base given that it is underneath the approach to Mildenhall! I used to fly with VGS at south cerney. We were always being grounded due to aircraft movement from Brice, Lynham, and Fairford. If you drew a line through all those runways, plus K...

Re: Red Arrows in Turmoil ?

In my opinion as the 7 ship at RIAT this year they did look a little tired and unpolished in their performance. I ranked them only 3rd behind the Black Eagles and the Italians in terms of the display and the tightness of formation which is unlike the reds, we always associate with them as 'the best...

Humans are flying them, just remotely.
Simply not the same. No human up in they sky. I, personally, have no interest. There will be others who have a different view. This is mine

(Also my reading makes me think parking at Fairford won't be a problem in the future as most 'spotters hate drones'? :) )
Yeap, Drones leave me cold. No interest in them at all. It is making a human being able to fly, and be in control, that attracted me to aircraft in the first place

Re: Top five aircraft moments

I’m sure these will change as my memory kicks in. 1) first flight ever. It was 1980 something in an RAF Vc10. I think I was primary school age at the time. It was a dull, overcast day, but I still remember as we punched through the clouds into brilliant sunshine, where the cloudscape was behind my i...

Re: B-52 deployment in January!

Various posts on the Fairford spotter pages on Facebook suggest they may be on their way. 3 B52s on a global mission right now heading over the Atlantic, and a post giving info about the 747 support flights 2-5 January
