Re: Vigilants at Kemble

A friend who flies from Kemble reported yesterday that there are at least a dozen Grobs well hidden in the Belfast scrapping area with registrations painted over and just tail codes visible. They are apparently under the wing and tail of the B747 in the compound.

Vigilants at Kemble

Does anyone have any info or ideally any serials for the Vigilants that have been roaded into Kemble please? Reports suggest anything anything up to a dozen may have arrived. I drove past the field today, there were definitley glider carriages visible in the Belfast area but I didn't have time to st...

Harrier flypast at Hatfield 1/7/89

Asking for a friend here who attended this show, he's looking for the serial of a Harrier GR5 that performed a fly by late in that day's proceedings, can anyone help please? Thanks

Backing up data to an external Hard Drive

Hi all Does anyone on here use Planebase at all? If you do, then you'll know that whenever it updates, which is usually twice a week, it saves back up files to your PC. It does however recommend that you set up a secondary back up should for example yourPC fail. I've bought an external hard drive wh...

Re: Heraklion HAF Beech 350 1 October 2023

Thanks Treble, I flew into Heraklion on 9th September and the Mil-8 was there, as it still was on the 19th when we flew back home. UP-MI808

Mil-8 parked at Heraklion 9th-19th September 2023

I noticed this when we landed on the 9th, creamy white in colour and parked over on the far side of the airfield closest to the sea by some concrete hangars. It was still there when we flew home yesterday and looked like it hadn't moved. Although we taxiied for departure relatively close to it, heat...

RAF Harvards at Southend, 1961

Request on behalf of a friend who visted Southend in 1961 if anyone might be able to help. He saw dozens of Prentices stacked up which Aviation Traders had purchased from the RAF for civilian conversion and has managed to identify most of those but he also saw several Harvards which have defied iden...

Re: Rhodes, Maritsa request 14/9/22

Indeed, we were up on the hill where the huge stone cross is. I did take a 500mm lens with me but given Greece's touchiness about aviation photography, I decided not to use it as it would have been obvious where I was pointing it. We've passed through Diagoras about a dozen times over the years and ...

Re: Rhodes, Maritsa request 14/9/22

Thanks Thunder, I took two shots from Filerimos, the Air Tractors were fitted with floats. I've seen a few on firefighting duties when we've stayed on the Greek mainland in previous years. I only had a 300mm lens with me and the distance and heat haze made it impossible to read anything off. Looks l...

Update, the two yellow "helis" were in fact AT-802 Air Tractors and I now have a reg for the Mil-8.

Rhodes, Maritsa request 14/9/22

Just got home from Rhodes, on the 14th September we went to the summit of Filerimos which overlooks both the new Diagoras and the old Maritsa airports. There were several helis on the deck at Maritsa including a Chinook and a pair of Apaches, a Mil-8 plus two all yellow helis which were impossible t...

Apache "UGLY1"

Went right across our garden at 1450 BST on Monday 5th September, was tracking on the VRs as having come from Staverton and looks like it went into Boscombe Down. Any takers for the registration please? Thanks

Re: Bob Hinkel / Sled63000@...

How terribly sad, Bob was also a regular and hugely knowledgeable contributor to our Aviation for All forum and his absence had been remarked upon by several of our members. I only met Bob the once when we met up at Chard Equestrian Centre last November to tour the helicopters there. I know his wife...
