Manston Fire Dump - 2006
Seeing a recent post about Alconbury’s fire dump and the mention of Manston had me looking to see if I’d posted these. Apologies if I have already. Taken sometime between Jan-May 2006 while detached there. If I can find the originals I’ll add dates in due course. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...

Re: BC Aviation Museum
Hi Alan. Particularly interested in how much of FM104 you were able to see, assuming the rest of the fuselage and wings were on site in other areas? It's one of 8 Lancasters preserved in Canada and 1 of the 3 I still need. As far as I know all the pieces were there in various stages of restoration....

BC Aviation Museum
Earlier in the month during a trip out to Vancouver Island I took the opportunity to visit the BC Aviation Museum (https://bcam.net/) at Victoria International Airport. Another of those gems that you find now and again. A good mix of Canadian aviation, both military and civilian, from the early days...

Re: Miramar MCAS (CA)
There’s an aviation museum at Mirimar, The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum. It’s not on base, but right next to it. Well worth a visit. Fairly sure the museum is now closed, and they're supposed to be moving back to a new purpose built site at the old MCAS El Toro. If the frames are still at Mir...

Re: Finningley 1993
My first Finningley was '87. My old schoolmate went the year before and took great joy in showing me his photos of the Viggen! 😲 A real rarity back then. The closest I'd been to seeing one up to that point was my Matchbox 1/72 kit! I went almost every year thereafter until it's demise. A truly grea...

RAF Lossiemouth Families and Friends Day - 20 Jul 22
We had our F&F Day here last week, and fortunately the weather played ball for the Red Arrows unlike last year. Nice wee display from the BBMF, Spitfire and Hurricane, and from the Typhoon Display Team as well as a fly past from a P-8A flanked by 2 Typhoons. Couple of F-15E’s in the static along wit...

A few recent shots from Lossie, including the visit of the F-15E’s of the 492nd Fighter Squadron from Lakenheath. 1. It’s May. A certain film has just been released (very good in my opinion). Why not?

Palm Springs Air Museum.
Earlier this month I revisited this fabulous museum in California on my first trip out of the UK since before Covid hit. Like most museums not a great deal changes but they did have a few new additions, or ones that weren’t on display during my first visit in 2019. 1. North American T-28B Trojan 138...

Lossie Hornetfest - 01 Dec 21.
A few from a look down at Lossie recently when the Swiss and Canadian Air Forces visited with their Hornets. The Swiss were in from Leeming, before heading off to the west coast. The Canadians were returning from a deployment to Romania in support of NATO air policing. 1. https://live.staticflickr.c...
