Re: FRIAT renewal 25

That they are prioritising general public closer to the fenceline than the FRIAT grandstand just feels to me like RIAT now trying to get rid of the whole FRIAT idea. There can’t realistically be anything else behind it - can there?

You should have four Phantoms (Phanti?) to swoon over!

Two Turkish and two Greek .
I missed the Turkish ones somehow - well 4 is definitely better than 2 - I mean, all four can't go tech or fail to be allowed in to the country, can they?! :D

My main concerns over the 2025 relocation are: - Being further back from the runway is going to be challenging enough for those of us limited to 400mm/500mm reach on lenses, allowing for the inevitable haze. Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread

I was literally only last night gloomily reflecting that the year I am doing the whole show including arrivals and departures, the Phantoms were absent, so this is a very welcome piece of news today!

Re: FRIAT 2024

There was an email sent back in May "reminding" people to book parking if needed. I missed it, as it was just a one liner amongst other stuff, and as it wasn't required last year, I would have assumed they would have made more of it being a change! Anyway, I emailed yesterday and Wendy has come back...

Re: Park and view East

We no longer need parking passes for any other day do we? Certainly haven't for the past few shows as far as I can recall. As for Park & View, I assumed on that the clue about parking being a given was in the name... ;)

Re: FRIAT - what is it and is it worth it?

Hi, I understand where you park on the show days and where the dedicated entry point is for FRIAT, but where do you park and enter on the Thursday and Monday, is it the same? First time in FRIAT and can't seem to find it on the website. We commented the same - all the info for FRIAT is very geared ...

Thanks for giving an idea - that sounds reasonably standard from previous years to me, and yes, RIAT always seems to be a little pricier than elsewhere for some reason!

Red 11 had the spare at Stansted - I presume he lifted with the 8 display jets or immediately after in order to catch the weather gap, then held to rejoin with them to transit back.

Re: Duxford Summer Airshow - 24-25 July

Reds display was on time I believe (1705 commencing) and spot on the current standard time of 20 minutes - unusually for me I photographed both the arrival and the vixen break on my phone so I have timings for both. I think you must have misread the time when you saw them Reaper493! Frankly amazed t...

4 + 3 + 3 arrived FFD. Any serial tie ups appreciated. Lee XX245, XX278, XX322, XX311, XX242, XX310 I believe were all present. Can’t be sure of the others but may have photos that confirm. Definitely don’t know which one was retrieved from Scampton after the RTB - he broke and banked very early. A...

Parking restriction signs are in place on Old Fen Lane, Hurnbridge Road and Reedham Lane- all closed 0900 - 2000 as far as I recall, whether that means they will clear out vehicles and people who are already there is another question. O/T for this section also I know but not sure where the idea that...

Re: Machloop ban

It is pretty sad all the bad feeling this is causing. It appears the pilot concerned made an error but surely that could have been dealt with by a good 'old fashioned dressing down' or 'toilet cleaning duty' as per old days. As for the poster I can't really believe she did anything wrong by posting...

Re: Canon 100-400 repair / service

My 100-400 is currently at Elstree for a repair. It looks rather like as this is a known fault if the lens goes in for another repair which requires disassembly (in my case the IS unit has failed - and it also apparently requires a "Power Diaphragm Unit" - which I'm guessing relates to a failed USM ...
