Re: G7 Sumit to be held at Cardis Bay
Before we all get too excited let’s just remember that the 2020 G7 was held by video conference due to the COVID situation. Seems all too likely we could we heading for a similar situation this year? It would be a real blow to us here in Cornwall which all too often is very quiet in our uncrowned sk...

Fair comment. And as far as I know still well over 3000 personnel at the base.

C-17 took off from Newquay at 1530 this afternoon and routed towards Lands End initially. Perhaps to join airways.

Re: REQ St.Mawgan/Newquay
The Tornados have not - as of last week - arrived at Newquay. Turn off the St. Columb to Newquay Road where signs say Aerohub. Continue past the former Nimrod hangar and park just beyond. The Cobham hangar is to the west beyond a tall wire fence. The Cornwall Aviation Museum is well worth a visit. T...

Re: FRA Falcons
A FRA Falcon pilot at an airshow indicated to me that the Falcons will be taken out of service around 2019/20. Can't vouch for the accuracy of this info but they have been worked fairly hard over a period of many years.

Re: RNAS Culdrose Sea Fury crash 2014.
I watched the Sea Fury incident from barely 100 yards from the runway threshold. The display was going as planned until suddenly white smoke emerged from the engine. Moments later the engine began to misfire and the pilot was headed away from Helston townand began losing height and then turned for a...

Re: 771 NAS disbanded today.
It was indeed a sad day to see 771 disband but as indicated on this site, the Sea Kings were old and sadly bringing in contractors seems to be the way forward. I note from the Royal Aeronautical Society magazine that around two thirds of the 200 or so of the personnel now involved in civilian SAR ar...

771 SQ. SAR
Today is the last full day of SAR coverage provided over so many years from Culdrose by 771. XV670 was airborne a few minutes ago. The Navy have done a splendid job for us here in Cornwall over so many years and will be greatly missed .

How about the Coventry based Shackleton or East Kirkby's Lancaster as the next big success story gracing our skies though I appreciate it may be some time before either is ready to take to the skies

Re: Newquay 01/10/14.
The Shackleton still resides In its longtime location down in the RAF area, and whilst it still looks pretty tidy externally thanks to all the hard work of the Cornish Aviation Society little if any work is now being undertaken and I think the aircraft has been fenced off by the RAF who are keen to ...

Re: fast jet
I was at Roadford Reservoir and saw a Tornado very low and fast at 1210 headed Launceston direction. Later I saw two F-15s at around 1500ft at 1840 headed north . I was east of Davidstow at the time, they had presumably been doing several north/south runs in the preceeding half hour or so but could ...

Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
Not sure,Buzzer, but Apple Aviation are moving in to Newquay so presumably the structure going up at present is (hopefully) their hangar and one of their roles is aircraft breaking as well as undertaking maintenance. Any increase signs of activity at Newquay are most welcome .
