Re: Apache

Apache dropped into Linton at 4:30pm,give or take. A 20 minute or so stop before seen again heading back towards the north. Guessing it went in for a hot refuel?

Re: More Chinooks?

They have had a busy today. Out first thing, then back to Linton for a quick re-fuel. Out again around 1pm-ish and one returned 15 mins or so before KUKURI 1. Over 4 hours the PM sortie.

Reds were indeed on time at 15:30. Not a bad little turn out despite not knowing what the weather may do.

AAC / RAF Islanders / Defenders

For anyone who may not know, the transfer of Islanders and Defenders from the AAC to the RAF is not on. It should have happened earlier in the year. They will continue with 651 Squadron AAC. Not enough RAF personnel to take over the operation of the aircraft is the reason stated.

Re: RAF100 flypast

I thought i saw a new shape in the sky yesterday! Sat on my doorstep, saw a Hawk take off and come over the house before this F-35. A few miles away i thought it too small for the Typhoons you sometimes see. I thought maybe a Tornado. Wish i had my bins to hand now!

Seen at 6:45pm tonight a pair of Hercules doing an overshoot. I think they went around twice by the looks of it.

Re: Local Air Shows

I remember going to the 1995 ( i think it was) air show at Leeming. Last one i believe...would be lovely to bring it back. Even a one off would be great!

Re: Sea Skua Fired for Last Time

Don't tell the Argies. No. More retirements to make them lick their lips. Mind you, they missed their chance when Blair was in; though should Corbyn get power, he says that part of his manifesto will be to give half the Falklands back to Argentina - so they may find it just falls into their lap any...
